Guinness World Records has announced the death of the world’s oldest man, John Alfred Tinniswood, at the age of 112.

He died on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Hollies Care Home in Southport, England, where he resided.

This was made known in a statement by Guinness World Records on its website on Tuesday.

The statement said, “Guinness World Records is saddened to learn that John Tinniswood, the world’s oldest man, has died at the age of 112.

“He passed away yesterday (Monday, November 26) at the care home in Southport, England, where he resided.

“His family told Guinness World Records in a statement: ‘His last day was surrounded by music and love.”

“John always liked to say thank you. So, on his behalf, thank you to all those who cared for him over the years, including his carers at the Hollies Care Home, his GPs, district nurses, occupational therapists and other NHS staff. John’s life was one surrounded by love.”

Born on August 26, 1912, to Ada and John Bernard Tinniswood, he went on to marry his late wife, Blodwen Tinniswood, and they had a daughter, Susan.

A devoted Liverpool FC supporter, he gained global recognition in April 2024 when he was officially named the world’s oldest man by Guinness World Records, following the death of Juan Vicente Pérez Mora at 114.

John is survived by his daughter, Susan, grandchildren Annouchka, Marisa, Toby, and Rupert, and great-grandchildren Tabitha, Callum, and Nieve.

According to Mark Twain, we've been dead for many years before we were born, so, this second death isnt a big deal as we've been there before

In Gen 6:3, God said, my spirit shall not remain in man for ever and his days shall be 120 years, but the age of man extended far beyond 120 years after the flood

Even today men continue to live well past 120 years. So, is there a contradiction between what God decreed and what actually came to pass?

So, I've been thinking..
Is it better to die young, or old?

Wouldn't it be better to die young and better equipped for the struggles in the other side? Or do these things not matter?

What age do you assume on the other side? Same as when you died?
Or is there a default age?

This John cannot be the world's oldest man when I have a burial of a woman in my village who died at 120 years.

Go to Kalabari and many other Nigerian villages, you will see people who are more than 115 years old.
