Tony Elumelu is from Aniocha LGA of Delta North (Anioma) in Delta State and NOT from the core South East across River Niger. NO doubt people from Anioma or Delta North marry Yorubas more than the South East because they are more tolerant and were formerly part of the Old Western Region of Nigeria till the 1963 referendum when the Mid West of Nigeria (later named Bendel State then Edo and Delta States came into existence).
Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa's oldest biological daughter got married to a Yoruba guy a couple of years back so that's an indication that they largely have no issues with marrying out of their Anioma domains as long as you have potentials. A couple of Yoruba women too got married to men from there as well. The wife of the last reigning Asagba of Asaba was a Yoruba woman.
