5 Simple Reasons why you shouldn’t travel to Rwanda in 2024 as a Nigerian I remember in 2021 when I made the move to leave Nigeria for Rwanda Nigerian currency was good in 2021 , nearly x2 of the Rwandan francs If you changed 100k then you get 200k or more Nigerians who came with big funds that year was able to establish faster because our currency was still decent then Fast forward to 2024 Nov 100k naira is barely 77k Rwandan francs , the naira has lost over 50 percent of it former value and is not even in competition with the Francs again So even when you have 4-5m naira when you change it Rwandan francs is 3. Something million Rwandan francs and may not even be enough for a year before you find your feet in the country 2.Rent A lot of Nigerians find it shocking that the average monthly rent in Rwanda in a decent area for a one bedroom and parlor and bathroom is 100$, you may find cheaper in less decent areas for 80$ per month but it would be far and the room will be very small , so if you must come to Rwanda come prepared for paying monthly bills like rent, water bill, electricity bill, local government tax 3. Don’t come to Rwanda to hustle for with concrete plans Rwanda system is by the book, so it would be very hard for you to use street style or cut corners here , come prepared to start a mini business and if you are coming to search for jobs , it would be very hard for you to find any within 6 months sef ,except if you’re in the healthcare industry or tech industry, anything outside of these two sectors, you may not find any job in months 4. Rwanda is expensive and not expensive It’s expensive in terms of rent , and it’s expensive for a foreigner just coming in, but when you blend yourself well to the system, you’ll find out that , it’s the monthly rent that makes it expensive, if you can’t cope with monthly rent , don’t come, because you don’t want to be stranded in a foreign land 5.Be a good citizen of Nigeria, if you can’t , don’t come Nigerians already have it hard wherever we go because of the stereotype of being scammers or fraudulent Please leave that behavior in Nigeria, keep a low profile, don’t be noisy like some Nigeria are known for, but be confident, Rwandans like Nigerians, but make sure to be ready to follow the law 100 percent , else you’ll pay for it oo, #Kigali #Rwanda

2016 I lived in Kigali for some months and naira was change for #100 for 204 rwf God have mercy. I swear Nigeria is completely gone. It is hopeless to hope that Nigeria will be good again. That's impossible. |

nwadikeokey11:It's far worse now, that's why I made this post to discourage people who don't have enough money not to risk it at all |

Sheyimann:Kigali is very expensive to live in. I was spending $100 which was around 82000 rwf then every 4 to 5days. Some times i spent more than that. I was living at Kanombe right opposite Kigali international airport. Worshiping at Winners chapel Church at Remera. Though the city is very expensive but very beautiful, clean and their weather is amongst the best in the whole world. I love Rwanda, I may still relocate over there if things continue the way it is in Nigeria now |

Sheyimann:That exchange rate is still very fair compared to Cefa. Go to Benin or Togo that the naira was more than times two same in 2021 now N100k is less than 40k FCFA. Rent is the major set back (N160k for one bedroom flat). It's even more expensive than Côté de ivoire. But places in Ikoyi Lagos cost more than that. Yet Kigali has better infrastructure. Na Wa o😂 |
