You are talking about wishing dead one happy birthday . What about those that like obituary posts or accidents posts..someone will make a post of loosing a loved one, person go get mind love the post . It's crazy

People still wish good for their loved ones, posthumous.

If they meant it that way , they will clearly state it in their birthday wishes but theses set of people do not . They are the ones who do not comment or like someones post .They may even be commenting on someone's old account without knowing it .

Facebook should develop an algorithm once a condolence message is detected on a person's page it should be deactivated after 1 to 2 years. Many social media app are housing dead ppl ..especially that Instagram.

Those accounts mean a lot to their friends and loved ones. It reflect the lives the dead led and immortalizes them in their hearts.

Do people really be chatting with celebrities?Maybe people should stop sending wishes to people they don't know personally ... who don't know them and do not acknowledge nor send them wishes... or who they do not closely follow.

"Ah ... tomorrow is my birthday and Obi's birthday is the day before mine. Let me send him birthday wishes and wish him and his family long life and prosperity ."

Wow, it's from this post that I even learnt that Saint Obi is late.
Social media accounts (not Facebook alone) don't get deactivated when the account owner dies, unless they give their relatives their relatives their log in details to deactivate theirs when they are late (like writing a will).
The websites just store the birthdays and pop it out on their a day or 2 before their birthdays to remind their friends to wish them happy birthday.
Even on nairaland here, birthdays pop up. The website doesn't validate who's still or not.
Even on Facebook, your friends are not people u interact with frequently. Atimes when u send happy birthday to the person and go their page, u will then realise they had died since.

Same thing with my older sister's page on Facebook. (God rest her soul).

But I can't really be angry with them, what that has taught me is to always be sure about people's living status before posting things on their wall.

Better still, I rarely post things on anybody's wall today.

There is nothing wrong with that.They gather on the page during the birthday of the deceased to remember the person.In my own case I took down the face book page of my late wife,I unconsciously visited the page daily which didn't help my mental health. I have instructed my son when it's time and I pass away take down any social media post related to me.Only the living should live.

There should be a laid down procedure one can initiate for his/her sm account in dying. The account may not necessarily be closed but at least archived so people can stop tagging you or posting on them.

my condolences. U can only take down the account if you have the account details and password, something most relatives don't have.
