Most schools in the Arogbo wards II and III of Ese-Odo Local Government, Ondo State, are currently facing severe challenges such as dilapidated infrastructure and critical staff shortages, with one of them having only one staff.

SaharaReporters learnt that the L.A. Primary School Ogidigba II is the Government school which operates "with only one headmaster who is frequently absent."

In a statement signed by its convener, Icon-James Tam, the Social Crusade for a Sane Society described the alarming state of education in the area following a recent creek tour.

“At L.A. Primary School Ogidigba II, the infrastructure is in ruins, and the school operates with only a headmaster who is frequently absent,” the civic group stated.

The group also raised concerns about L.A. Primary School Adoloseimo II, where “half-baked PTA teachers struggle to maintain basic learning standards.”

Recent statistics indicate that F.A.C.M Primary School is the only school in the region with an average of four Government-employed teachers.

Most other schools rely on one headmaster and unqualified PTA teachers hired by the communities to fill the gaps.

The group has called on the State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to act immediately and fulfil the promise of employing 2000 teachers.

“Our schools are failing, and the future of our children is at stake. It is time for decisive action to salvage the system and secure the destiny of the younger generation,” they emphasised.
