Nepotistic appointments are inappropriate. There's no disagreement. The French Ambassador job is well known for being a reward to Presidential supporters but this particular Trump appointment goes beyond the pale. No dispute.

One last attempt at addressing root causes, then I'll let it be.

As at 2015 Mr Trump was qualified to run for President. At the time there were no issues or basis to declare him substantively unfit to run, never mind legally.

During the 2016 campaign for President, Mr Trump was secretly investigated for being a Russian Spy. After he was elected President, that same case was used as the basis to impeach him.
