I hope the Tinubu govt realizes Nigerian from the South South are only waiting for the new tax bill to be passed so we can now have a legit precedence to start clamoring for 60% derivation for oil producing states because what's good the goose is great for the gander |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by Thewrath: 11:26am On Dec 04, 2024 |
Yorubas and north will never be ready for this conversation! |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by Softmirror: 11:27am On Dec 04, 2024 |
SalamRushdie:The irony is even if you give them 100% they will still have nothing to show for it. |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by SalamRushdie(op): 11:28am On Dec 04, 2024 |
Thewrath:E go shock them , once they pass this bill a precedence will be set and the oil producing states will have a valid claim to ask for their own 60% |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by SalamRushdie(op): 11:29am On Dec 04, 2024 |
Softmirror:But still give them |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by Softmirror: 11:29am On Dec 04, 2024 |
SalamRushdie:Lol 😊 it's funny how you reason. |

SalamRushdie:They will be given even if the want it all. That is not a problem. The oil as we mostly say has been a curse and not a blessing. So they can carry the curse with their full chest and on their head too. Nigeria was way more productive and prosperous before we discovered oil. So? Do you know how much a litter of ground nut oil is sold? Hmmmm |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by GBTYO: 11:34am On Dec 04, 2024 |
SalamRushdie:I believe he will present it in due course. Restructuring must be carried out in full. Next will be dusting up Gowon's decree 8 that will have every state have a reservist force. |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by Thewrath: 11:42am On Dec 04, 2024 |
SalamRushdie:I don’t blame the north for being cautious, they don’t trust the yorubas but have no choice because of power….there might even be a clause in that tax bill that direct huge percentage of VAT to Lagos state. But ask for 10% in the PIB bill they will start gnashing their teeth |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by Thewrath: 11:44am On Dec 04, 2024 |
The oil is the only thing keeping Nigeria together!! |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by GBTYO: 11:49am On Dec 04, 2024 |
SalamRushdie:Oil producing states will also have the legal backing to charge a percentage on every barrel of crude drilled and sold from their land. Imagine a state like Delta that averages close to 700k barrels per day charging just 1% as VAT on every barrel sold at $80 on the international market. Now that's good money which will see oil producing states tackling vandalism and bunkering head-on This bill will end insurgency and banditry across the north as governors would sit up to their responsibilities and fix the insecurity in their states so as promote business activities and lure investors to their respective states. Even your SE governors will all stop pandering to IPOB criminals. |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by SalamRushdie(op): 12:01pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
GBTYO:The only thing I like the bill is it potential to fix insecurity |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by Thewrath: 12:08pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
GBTYO:At bolded,Did the OP tell you he is from SE? |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by EmeeNaka: 12:11pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
SalamRushdie:Then again, most oil proceeds are actually offshore. The states do not own Nigeria territorial waters anyway. |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by Great2017: 12:12pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
Softmirror:Let them worry about that. |

EmeeNaka:There is no deep water oil well that's not tied to a state |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by seunowa(f): 12:15pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
SalamRushdie:It will be given to them. Infact that's the reason Bola Ahmed Tinubu initiated the tax reform bills last year. No matter how long northern governors, politicians and residents cry and try to delay the passage of the tax reform bills. It will eventually be passed. After God, Na Bola Ahmed Tinubu |

Softmirror:And that's no body business What South South use their oil wealth to do should not be anyone's problem So we should tell the oil companies not to pay royalty na since our politicians haven't used the one they paid well Tomorrow una go still claim to love South South... Lmaooo una talk now na South must do 8 years since when? |

| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by IGBOPROMISE1: 12:22pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
SalamRushdie:Unsuspecting and simple-minded people don’t realise or notice all the different crafty schemes and policies that have been dreamt up to try and water down the benefits oil producing states derive from oil and gas production in their states! This ‘offshore rule’ the poster you replied referred to is just one out of many! |

Softmirror:When Jesus Christ said ’give unto Ceaser what is Ceasers’’, i don’t remember him adding a caveat that it’s provided Ceaser is proven to be financially prudent and be seen to have constructed enough aqueducts and apian-ways throughout the Roman Empire! |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by Free2Fly: 2:49pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
Softmirror:That's a silly statement aimed at diverting attention from their legitimate demand. What they do with the money is none of your business. What of you? What will you do with the VATs you want to cunningly secure for yourselves in Lagos? If lagos and other SW states want to keep the VATs and taxes they realized within their sates, other states will also have to keep whatever revenues that are being generated from their territories. You guys really think you're smart trying to cunningly deceive others into fighting for a bill that will give you advantage. |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by Softmirror: 2:57pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
Free2Fly:We are not opposed to it. Even if they want 100% the will get it. Igbos are there to fight for the 'rights' of the South-South lol. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by EmeeNaka: 2:59pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
SalamRushdie:it doesn’t mean the water belongs to the state anyway. The argument will be resurrected, I suppose. |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by Pythagoras001: 3:05pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
SalamRushdie:let everyone develop at their own pace. That the Niger delta get 60% oil derivate does not necessarily imply the would develop any better than non oil producing state. Venezuela and Norway both have oil one is rich the other poor even equitorial guinea here is a case study. Texas is the largest producing oil state but it is the 25th richest out of 50. Good governance and instutions is what drive wealth generation. |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by Free2Fly: 3:07pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
Softmirror:Most of you village boys from SW who only know about lagos don't know that Imo, Abia, and recently Anambra are also oil producing states and part of the Niger delta. |

Pythagoras001:This is the problem with Nigeria. All fingers are not equal . Let every region develop at her pace . That was the same madness that led to the civil war |
| Re: 60% derivation For Oil Producing States by Free2Fly: 4:27pm On Dec 04, 2024 |
EeyanMayweather:That's exactly how nonentities from sadwest talk. If 3 oil producing states can be described as "parasitic", how then would you describe Ekiti, Osun, Oyo and Ogun states where you morons are being produced en mass ![]() |
