The former president’s victory was the highlight of a big night for Republicans, who were also projected to regain control of the Senate after four years in the minority.

The fate of the House of Representatives was too close to call early Wednesday, with the majority not likely to be determined for several days.

In an eerie repeat of the scenes on Election Night 2016, thousands of Harris supporters who gathered on the campus of the veep’s alma mater, Howard University, to watch the results come in were left shocked and in tears as it became clear their candidate could not win.

In the end, it was not Harris but her campaign co-chair, Cedric Richmond, who was left to inform the desolate crowd that the Democratic nominee would not be appearing.

“We still have votes to count … so you won’t hear from the vice president tonight,” said Richmond, a former Louisiana congressman and Biden White House official. “She will be back here tomorrow.”

The 45th president had projected supreme confidence against Harris, 60, in the final days of the race, with heavy messaging aimed at male voters and a marathon schedule of rallies and media appearances — including a shift at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s.

Meanwhile, Harris downplayed both her potential to make history as the first female president and her racial identity as a child of Jamaican and Indian immigrants.

Instead, she campaigned as a pro-small business warrior for the middle class, while seemingly disavowing a host of former left-wing stances she had espoused as San Francisco district attorney, California attorney general and a senator from the Golden State.

Trump’s victory makes him just the second president to be elected in non-consecutive cycles, joining Democrat Grover Cleveland — who was picked as the 22nd president in 1884 and the 24th president in 1892, with Republican Benjamin Harrison of Indiana serving four years in between.

The race was widely considered a toss-up right through Election Day, as surrogates for both candidates made rhetorical blunders that received widespread media attention.

Both Trump and Harris had to face the American electorate as incumbents of a kind, given the 45th president’s rejection by voters after his first term in 2020 and Harris’ elevation to the Democratic nomination only after President Biden announced July 21 he would not seek a second term.

On Oct. 27, a massive Trump rally at Madison Square Garden turned into a media feeding frenzy after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe delivered a joke that missed the mark by referring to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.”

Biden days later dampened Harris’ message of “joy” and bipartisanship by calling Trump’s supporters “garbage” — a comment that was quietly edited by White House press aides without the input of the executive mansion’s official stenographers.

“We gotta lock him up,” the president said at a Democratic campaign office in Concord, NH, two weeks before voters headed to the polls, before immediately course-correcting: “Politically, lock him up — lock him out, that’s what we’ve got to do.”

Meanwhile, the 45th president was dogged by unprecedented criminal indictments out of New York, South Florida, Washington, DC, and Georgia — two of which alleged he had illegally conspired to overturn the 2020 election results.

In the most astonishing moments of the race, Trump cheated death twice after being sought out by would-be assassins at a campaign rally in Butler, Pa., on July 13 and at his West Palm Beach golf course on Sept. 15.

Republicans roundly rebuked Democrats for potentially ginning up the gunmen with their rhetoric of Trump potentially ending American democracy and likening him to “fascist” dictators like Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

Trump’s campaign also operated in the shadow of both espionage campaigns and potential death threats from Iran, leading to another foiled assassination attempt by a suspected agent of Tehran and the indictment of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps hackers.

Harris clinched her party’s nomination in August on the heels of a palace coup by top congressional Democrats like House Speaker emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and influential party donors like Hollywood movie star George Clooney to oust the oldest-ever president from the 2024 ballot.

That effort followed Biden’s disastrous debate against Trump on June 27 — the earliest such a showdown had been held in an election cycle — during which the president spoke haltingly and at times incoherently.

Biden campaign staff later said he had a cold and Harris continued to refer to the performance as merely a “bad night,” dodging pointed questions about when she first learned of her boss’ mental slippage on display that night to millions of viewers.

The VP went on to rake in record fundraising numbers in the short sprint from July to September, totaling more than $1 billion in contributions.

The funding purchased targeted ads that introduced Harris on the national stage as a former-career-prosecutor-turned-lawmaker pivoting to the middle on border enforcement and the economy.

Trump-driven fundraising received a massive infusion from Democrat defectors like hedge fund billionaire Bill Ackman and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who even launched a new PAC to spend $80 billion on the former president’s candidacy.

Harris backed off earlier commitments to ban fracking, pass Medicare for All and decriminalize border crossings — even as she was confronted with more radical proposals she had supported as a senator, like taxpayer-funded gender-reassignment surgeries for incarcerated migrants.

Trump campaigned on a commitment to shut down the border and halt the record number of crossings during the Harris-Biden administration, reverse regulations throttling the domestic oil and gas industry and end the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

He also floated proposals to implement taxpayer-funded in vitro fertilization for couples and eliminate taxes on tips for service workers — something that Harris borrowed as part of her own platform.

Biden to present Hillary Clinton, George Soros and 17 others the Presidential Medal of Freedom

President Biden will award the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, to former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, billionaire Democratic megadonor George Soros and several others at a White House ceremony on Saturday.

The White House said Clinton, Soros and the 17 other recipients of the prestigious award are "individuals who have made exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values, or security of the United States, world peace, or other significant societal, public or private endeavors."

"President Biden believes great leaders keep the faith, give everyone a fair shot, and put decency above all else," the White House said in a statement. "These nineteen Americans are great leaders who have made America a better place. They are great leaders because they are good people who have made extraordinary contributions to their country and the world."

Soros, 94, has been one of the most prolific fundraisers for the Democratic Party in recent history.

The Hungarian-born hedge-fund billionaire gave more than $175 million to Democrats during the 2022 midterms, according to Federal Election Commission records.

In 2024, Soros funneled another $60 million for House and Senate Democrats and other left-wing causes through his Democracy PAC, records show.

Soros, who has shifted tens of billions of dollars of his personal net worth over to his Open Society Foundations, which funds a multitude of progressive projects around the world, has also heavily invested in races to install far-left district attorneys in major American cities.

Soros-backed DAs, including Manhattan’s Alvin Bragg and Philadelphia’s Larry Krasner, have been criticized by Republicans for pursuing priorities such as criminal justice reform over prosecuting criminals.

The left-wing investor has also come under fire for funneling tens of millions of dollars to groups supporting anti-Israel protesters on college campuses.

The White House described Soros as “a philanthropist who four decades ago founded the Open Society Foundations” and “through his network of foundations … has supported organizations, and projects across the world that strengthen democracy, human rights, education, and social justice.”

Clinton, 77, will be receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom nearly 12 years after her husband, former President Bill Clinton, was bestowed the honor by former President Barack Obama.

In 2016, Clinton made history when she became the first woman nominated for president by a major United States political party.

The United State president, Joe Biden, has allegedly quietly shipped 11 prisoners linked to al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden to Oman from Guantanamo Bay.

The administration has agreed to help re-settle the detainees, including two former bodyguards for Osama bin Laden, being held at a U.S. naval base in Guantánamo Bay, amid steps to reduce the population at the controversial military facility.

All of the men were captured in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks and were held for more than two decades without being charged or put on trial, the New York Times reported.

"The United States appreciates the willingness of the government of Oman and other partners to support ongoing U.S. efforts focused on responsibly reducing the detainee population and ultimately closing the Guantanamo Bay facility," the Defence Department said in a statement.

"Although different processes, each of the Yemeni detainees underwent a thorough, interagency review by career professionals who unanimously determined all detainees as transfer eligible consistent with the national security interests of the United States."

Daily Mail reports that the move was the latest salvo, and potentially the last - in a concerted effort from the Biden administration to clear Guantanamo Bay of such prisoners.

The transfer took place early on Monday morning as part of a covert operation to get the men to Oman, where they will be resettled, safely and without fuss.

It is unclear what the United States has agreed to, or provided Oman, in exchange for taking the prisoners.

The men could not be returned to their home country of Yemen, which is gripped by civil war, due to their own safety.

Moath Hamza Ahmed al-Alwi and Suhayl Abdul Anam al Sharabi were both alleged to be bin Laden's bodyguards, and al-Alwi is also an accused al Qaeda fighter.

According to a 2020 intelligence file, al Sharabi "may have been associated with an aborted 9/11-style hijacking plot in Southwest Asia."

A separate intelligence file on al-Alwi from 2016 revealed he "has made several statements since early 2016 that suggest he maintains an extremist mindset."

The other men who have been released have been identified as: Uthman Abd al-Rahim Muhammad Uthman, Khalid Ahmed Qassim, Hani Saleh Rashid Abdullah, Tawfiq Nasir Awad Al-Bihani, Omar Mohammed Ali al-Rammah, Sanad Ali Yislam Al Kazimi, Hassan Muhammad Ali Bib Attash, Sharqawi Abdu Ali Al Hajj and Abd Al-Salam Al-Hilah.

Moath al-Alwi, al Sharabi and al-Rammah were all authorised to be released back in 2022.

The sultanate of Oman did not acknowledge taking in the prisoners early Tuesday. However, the key Western ally has taken in over two dozen prisoners in the past since the founding of the prison.

The transfer announced Monday leaves six never-charged men at Guantanamo, two convicted and sentenced inmates, and seven others charged with the 2001 attacks, the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, and 2002 bombings in Bali.

Of the remaining 15 men in Guantanamo Bay, three are eligible for transfer and another trio to have their detention status reviewed.

For the first time, the director of “The Fall of Minneapolis” responded to the defamation lawsuit filed by Minneapolis Assistant Police Chief Katie Blackwell. The suit names producer and reporter Liz Collin, Alpha News and director Dr. JC Chaix. Dr. Chaix believes that in filing her lawsuit, Blackwell has unwittingly helped bring more of the truth to light.

Blackwell has said Alpha News defamed her by using her sworn testimony during Derek Chauvin’s trial when she testified that she did not recognize what she called an “improvised position” that the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) did not train. (Read More…)
