PrivateSeal:So, you want them to overtrhow the government and bring themselves into power. LOL... I lived under army rule, my friend. It was the same thing that is happening now, that was happening then. Looting? Live. Corruption? Live. Naira falling? Well well. People running abroad....live and direct. Plus even if army took over, they will still face the same debt that is on our back from IMF and the Chinese. Any economic policy has to be taken with that debt in mind. That is how we got SAP Under IBB. Accumulated debts from the Shagari and after the Buhari admin. Plus the ones we accumulated from 1960. Many of you don't even want to do the hard work of democracy. Na to sit down and to chop you wan do. If you want better government, get up and get doing. If not, don't ask the army to do it for you. We are still dealing with the mess they left behind. |

Yes! Importation should be encouraged! Oil and Gas dealers are in business to make profit, just like Dangote has built a refinery as a businessman to make profit too. We all want to buy things cheaper. And if your locally produced fuel is more expensive than the imported product, how do you convince me to buy from a local producer? When I have bills to pay, I have salaries to pay and stuffs like that! You people should grow up and forget sentiment abeg! |

Simply means dangote is heavily exploiting Nigerians, he is milking a lean cow without pity. How could it be explained that people will go and buy petrol, diesel from a refinary abroad, a refinary that also imported oil and refined. The fuel is then shipped to naija with all it's cost eg insurance, customs duty etc, that petrol will then be cheaper than dangote. Howwww Why must our own always have k leg? |

Orders for PMS are made months in advance. The Refineries don’t start working today and you return the orders you made 6 months ago. |

But wait o, is it that basic understanding of everyday dynamics is a problem for Nigerians? Yes, the Dangote refinery is producing fuel and already selling same into the Nigerian markets, but it is equally exporting fuel to other international markets as we previously read on this same platform. Even if Dangote concentrates on feeding our market, the current output is not going to meet the daily fuel needs of 220 million Nigerians. Don't even get me started on the Port Harcourt refinery because that one is still on shaky grounds, post rehabilitation. We're yet to be certain even, as to what's coming out of there and into our consumer markets. Then factor in the fact that we are still buried deep in the menace of fuel smuggling across International borders and this is a scourge that's a daily source of income for thousands of Nigerians engaged in it. If we abruptly cease importation of petroleum products at this point, the magnitude of scarcity that's going to hit us will have all of you here lamenting and abusing the government. This thing is a process. Those of you who were born during the privatization of the Telecommunications sector in OBJ's regime can recall how long it took for us to start buying SIM cards for 200 naira. The healthy competition and reduced prices vis-a-vis the surplus availability of petrol that y'all are clamouring for, is going to take a decent while. Y'all should learn to calm the fvck down! |

iwaeda:The fuel import volumes are inflated, that is the foundation of the FUEL SUBSIDY SCAM This is something I've been saying since the Buhari years...they've been getting away with this daylight-robbery because Nigerians don't know how to think Consumption volumes have been halved at least, because people have reduced the usage as they cannot afford the new prices, how come importation volumes are atill rising? This is why they don't want Dangote Refinery in the mix, because they cannot co-opt him into the scam, his figures would actually be available for audit at the end of every year anyways. So that's why they began to lie about PH Refinery, Kaduna Refinery, etc, so that Dangote would have to be importing his crude and exporting his refined products separately, and they can continue their import-export scam against stupid Nigerians |

LegendHero:Same Dangote claimed his diesel was euro standard before backtracking Ask yourself how he can be doing US standard at the price of Malta standard Sebi NNPCL is now blending. Kyari already told us their product is not US standard. Why has Dangote not written to NMDPRA to ban NNPCL products since they are substandard? You're free to believe whatever catches your fancy |

The import cycle is 90 cycles. These were orders placed before the import ban was placed. So all orders made and paid for must be delivered. Importation will surely fizzle out if the government is sincere with the policy. The story is mere speculative |

There's nothing wrong with importing petrol or anything else for that matter. It's a matter of cost and efficiency. Free markets matter. Good Luck to Nigeria. |

BoldBrainz:You are talking scraps. The price of petrol is dependent on the current exchange, crude and petrol.are all international products and unfortunately Nigeria govt is do dependent on earning forex from sales of crude. Until we can operate like Liya, Saudi Arabia etc where the govt prioritize local consumption, then Nigerians can begin to enjoy less expensive petrol. We need leaders that are not selfish, leaders that truly want this country to work, not personal pockets. |

Basicend:Selling price of Dangote? Was it not the FG that fixed the price for Dangote? Why didn't they allow the man to fix his own price by himself? because they know if he is allowed to sell it lower,it was affect their products from their private refineries abroad. |

yemre:But it was the FG that fixed the price for him in order to have this type of excuse you are giving now so as to continue with their importation business. You think those refineries the politicians built abroad were for fancy? |
| Re: Despite Takeoff Of Dangote, P/H Refineries, Nigeria's Fuel Import, 2.3bn litres by Pacesetter123(m): 10:55pm On Dec 05, 2024 |
nedekid:You seemed to be new in Nigeria oil politics,or maybe you are just one of the ardent supporters of the present administration to the extent you applaud their every action whether good or bad. So you want to tell me that you were not here in this country when the FG through NNPCL quickly rushed to fix the pump price for him and made the initial proposal that they will be the sole buyer of his products in a higher price of about 9 hundred and something naira per liter? The FG did that on purpose so politicians can continue with their importation business. The high price fixing was so that they can later whip the sentiment of the undecearning populace and use it as an excuse that Dangote product is more costly than imported one. |

And tomorrow when the exchange rate increase to 1,800 naira to a dollar now . we start crying and complaining..all this Importation it's what makes the naira to devalue and depreciate everyday against the dollars and making the naira to lose value..we are not serious in this country |
| Re: Despite Takeoff Of Dangote, P/H Refineries, Nigeria's Fuel Import, 2.3bn litres by Pacesetter123(m): 11:36pm On Dec 05, 2024 |
I am still surprised that a lot of Nigerians still believes that FG can truly ban fuel importation or allowed local refineries to function efficiently. This thing can never work, not when our past and present leaders have refineries outside in the foreign land. Mind you those refineries they built abroad were not meant to service their host countries,it was meant to supply Nigeria market in a very high cost through importation while still getting additional money from the government in the name of subsidy. So the question you people should ask yourselves should be,if they stop importation, what will happen to their refineries in foreign land? You think they will allowed the facility to moribund ? Ofcourse they can't. So any government official that is telling you they have or will ever put an end to fuel importation in Nigeria and that local refineries will be allowed to sell fuel at a reduced rate is lying to you. They preferred to milk the poor masses dry through exorbitant fuel price and suffer economic hardship than allow their refineries abroad lie fallowed at the expense of local refineries. |
