Iyala:Absolutely none of them are. And if only the people would realize this and wake the f-k up already from their comatose state. We had pipe-borne water out there in Ikorodu when I was growing up. At one point we lived across the road from Ile-omi - Lagos State Water Works, where we would take out complaints when the water was down. Unfortunately, during Babangida and Abacha days, things took a dive and since then no one has bothered to fix things. Fast forward to this day, the Works building is nothing but a museum of sorts. Na wa oo!  |

EmperorCaesar:Good point but independence isn't the reason why till now Lagos still doesn't have regular drinkable water and electricity. It more of mismanagement and foresight, in the sense that money isn't the issue if you think deeply. And again if you say per independence then China and Dubai having almost similar independence counters you, but by a people and history those countries existed for detailed centuries. |

Same Lagos you guys always claim Tinubu has built. I was in Lagos last month, I behold first hand of the terrible state lagosians are living. I just hate such life and that is why I hate Lagos to live. It's just the survival of the fittest. You see able bodied waking up early in the morning and all they can think of is how to be drinking gin and smoking helm. Roads dilapidated. People rushing to catch up with borehole dug by individuals. At that the prices of goods just too high. No light for almost three days before they brought it for few hours and that was all. |

Govt run residential water systems in Nigeria collapsed after the 90s. Any govt proposing to provide pipe borne water is only embarking on a white elephant project that'll end up in embezzlement of funds. Our urban planning system will not make it work. Let's just accept that it's individual household duty to provide yourself with water except we just want to deceive ourselves. Same thing is happening with NEPA...once solar becomes more mainstream and the technology becomes better, some households might decide not to connect to the national grid again. |

Nobody trade with water and lose in life says Yoruba adage (ko se ni to sowo omi to pa danu). Lagos should not even have complain of supplying water to all households as the state is surrounded by water. simpleseyi:The public water supply in America and Australia is under scrutiny but looking at the small size of Lagos and the vision of LKJ, it is a disgrace to Lagos in 2024 not to have potable public water supply. Growing up as a kid, we had access to tap water. It wasn't from someone's tank. It was from the state. How did we get here? No light. NO water. These are public utilities govt should be supplying. I always say that many people buying fuel have no business with it if we had regular power supply and water supply. You'll be surprised people are buying fuel to power their generators to pump water. Sad I always tell people that say Tinubu built Lagos that whenever I remember the year the pure water came into Lagos and what he did to our public water supply, I cannot respect any of them for taking us back. 1 Like 1 Share
