But seriously though I think physics can explain what's going on here. Considering that the babies bones aren't fully formed and dense yet, some form of buoyancy can be expected. Coupled ofcourse with the fact that the baby was laid on its back. Even a grown human can stay afloat for a short while on his/her back.

Sheer ignorance!

All newborns will float in water when placed. It has nothing to do with DNA or tribe. Newborns assume a flattening position when placed in water thus making them buoyant.

naturally every healthy born child will float on the surface of still water
even when thrown dip into water, a baby will always come back up to the surface.
The baby loses this ability after some months cool

A true baby conceived of riverine parents already has a unique lung.

Drowning is out of the question. grin

Their 3-year old kids are already excellent underwater swimmers... Able to hold their breaths for minutes longer than normal.

I'm not saying I support this anyway...But, science is wide and wild! cool

How do Ijaws and the Kalabaris survive close to water bodies?

Im curious? Are there no crocodiles in the water? Or how do they know which rivers or swamps have crocs and which don't have? What of pythons in water or other dangerous animals?

I am really curious. There is nothing I fear more than wild water especially because of the danger of crocodiles. I don see documentary tire.
