There is nothing that can make people persist in doing what is wrong except they can't figure out another option if there is a better option then such critics surely have a point.

For instance all first century Jews knew that it's their time the Messiah (Christ) should be born so they were desperately looking for any member of their society who will start acting as the Christ.
Two Jews did showed up in the first century but they were killed and those following them scattered {Act 5:36-37} regarding this Jesus said those two guys were thieves and plunderers {John 10:8} John came before Jesus and the first century Jews rushed to him asking if he is the Christ but John told them he is not the Christ! John 1:20
So when Jesus of Nazareth began preaching and teaching in their neighborhood and they are seeing him performing the things God told them about the Christ are they supposed to continue criticizing him?
Well God will forgive those who criticize Jesus of Nazareth but then after Jesus left and his disciples began preaching and teaching in his name also fulfilling what God promised about Jews that the Christ has baptized with the Holy Spirit {Joel 2:28-30} whoever continue to criticize all these events is no longer attacking humans but God's Holy Spirit that's why some sincere and honest hearted Jews began begging Jesus' disciples to tell them what they should do now that they've seen what God promised happening in the gathering of Jesus' disciples! Act 2:37

Today Jehovah's Witnesses are fulfilling what is written in the Bible regarding the end time disciples of Christ but if anyone feels they are wrong all you need to do is present a better performing group than this organization just as any first century Jews need to figure out the group that's performing according to what their God promised them regarding those that will be baptized with Holy Spirit by the Christ.

Failure to do so means such ones will never be forgiven whether they live in the first century with Jesus' disciples or today! Matthew 12:31-32
