Around 2013-2015, if you enter a Buka (Lowkey Restaurant) and order for

3 small nylon wrapped Eba
I meat + soup= 200.

Now in 2024,
3 small Eba
1 meat + soup= 900.

Now in that 2013-2015, If someone eat that meal morning and evening, it is =400 per day.
400x30days= 12000.
Meaning the Person spent ONLY N12000 on feeding!
If the Person is a Hotel Receptionist, security man, Private school teacher,etc
earning even 25K per month, he or She still has 13000 left from the salary.

But now in 2024, a N900 meal morning and evening=1800
1800x30days=54000.

Now how many Nigerian Workers earn up to 100k in their workplace?
Some still earn 70k, 60k, 50k and even 40K salary, meaning their salary CANNOT even feed them in a month
And they do NOT have any reserve from it, to focus on other bills.

SO, REALLY HOW ARE SALARY EARNERS COPING IN THIS ECONOMY?
Are they doing Fraud? Or into some kind of Side Hustle?

Skipping meals to survive i guess

Bread and beans that use to be my usual outside food, is now very expensive. Surviving in my workplace is now hectic!

Being a salary earner is even better....have you ever considered or thought about the unemployed,the jobless people?🤔

I have been at home for a month now,and I can tell you for free that it's not easy for a Nigerian, especially a man,to be without a job......

It's hectic I must really say..

But really, I wonder.

If you calculate the monthly Feeding expenses of a Grown man,
it could gulp up to 70K-90K or even 100k currently.

Yet some are on a 45K, 50K salary.

Meaning there are some days they Don't eat or What?

Lemme don't say that there are some days, dem dont eat. But they do eat low quality meals sometimes, to save cost. They compromise their health and stomach by eating taking in patch-up(makeshift) meals to be able to live. Consuming rice and onion/okro sauce, Rice with just palm oil and salt, bread without anything, beans and soaking garri, eba and concoction soups without protein, buns and puff puff, etc

These days only food consume all the money payed for work done. I'm a site worker, I serve as Tyler and earn 4k on daily bases but If I miss work for one day, the next day will be hunger....imagine carrying bags of cement and countless bucket of sand every single day and only food accounts for the money....

Workers spending every Penny of their Salary/wage on food,
without having any reserve for other bills.
