I guess they are tired of responding to candidates questions. But to mean, it doesn't make sense at all. At least they should able to communicate a well detailed answer for all to see in their website, not keeping people in the dark. If they want to reject, let them do it now since they have already ask their finalist to interview, this way others rejected can move on abeg, and not keeping it till January 2025 for rejection.

I received an email tonight stating that I am eligible for an application fee waiver, as outlined below

Good day,
After careful review of your application, we are pleased to inform you that you qualify for a fee waiver to facilitate the completion of your application process. To proceed with the fee waiver, please create an account on the McGill University Graduate Application Portal.

Please do not apply for admissions yet.
At this stage of the process, you only need you to create an account, please do not take any further steps on the McGill admissions portal. It is important to note that if you start an application now, it will create difficulties in applying your fee waiver.

We will contact you again soon to let you know when you can apply.
Creating your McGill account should only take a few minutes. Kindly complete this initial step by Monday, December 16th, 2024. Please email us to confirm once you have created your McGill account. We will then be able to assign a fee waiver to your account. We will contact you again to proceed with the application process.

Due to the large volume of applicants, the selection process is still ongoing. Recipients of a fee waiver will be contacted on a rolling basis.

Please do you have any idea if your LoR recommenders were contacted for this selection stage? I’m asking because I want to know if I need to follow up with my 2 recommenders because I also received the December 9th email from MCF McGill stating my application is being reviewed.

No, my recommenders have not been contacted. I think MCF McGill stated that recommenders would only be contacted at the tail end of the scholarship selection process.

Please, I'm confused in the grading system of academic background. My school uses a 4 point scale. However according to their own scaling for Nigeria. 4.0 is first class while 3.5 to 3.99 is second class under 3.3. My grade is 3.68 which is a first class but falls under 3.3. Which one did you choose when you were applying?

According to the University's website, the below is the conversion scale for degrees from Nigeria

Nigerian CGPA to McGill CGPA
4.0/4.0 or 5.0/5.0 - Equivalent to 4.0/4.0
3.5 to 3.99/4.0 - Equivalent to 3.3/4.0
4.5 to 4.99/5.0 - Equivalent to 3.3/4.0
3.0 to 3.49/4.0 - Equivalent to 3.0/4.0
4.0 to 4.49/5.0. - Equivalent to 3.0/4.0

I had 4.4/5.0, so I chose 3.0/4.0 ( McGill University scale). If you had a CGPA of 3.86/4.0 in Nigeria, your McGill University converted CGPA would be 3.3/4.0.
You are correct by selecting 3.3/4.0
