there was an award given for Africa's best before CAF started it's own award, combining that to the recent CAF award which began in 1993 given cameroon I think 11 awards.

How much does this achievement add to our bank accounts?
Or has this news reduced hardship in the country?

If u don't agree with this, you should also agree that Liverpool has only won 1 Premier League title ever since the EPL started in 1992.

All this Epistle just to confuse yourself?
Who gave Weah the African Footballer Of the year in 1997 and 1999?
Ogbeni, Victor Ikpeba won it in 1997 and Kanu won it 1999.

I remember very well when the Ballon d'Or Africain was being awarded. It is a completely different award.

naptu2:
France Football, the organisers of the Ballon d’Or, organised the Ballon d’Or Africain from 1970 till 1994 and the winner of that award was recognised as the African Footballer of the Year. CAF began awarding the African Footballer of the Year prize in 1992 and it continues to do so till this day.

Na the same thing bros.
Na just name change same as European cup is now Champions ieague.
So should we not count those who won the European Cup and have never won the champions league?

I smell ignorance here.
You obviously don't know the meaning of Ballon d'or.
It is not an English word.
Go and translate it.
When you do, tell me what Victor and Lookman are holding in the attached picture.
Dat CAF is awarding the Ballon d'or today does not invalidate the other ballon d'or trophy.
Note the word ballon d'or and the physical representation of the award.

BTW, whenever football as in soccer is being talked about, Nigeria with 200m+ people can never raise their hand where Cameroon is concerned.
Fear that country when e concern football.
It's like night and day.
The amount of nations Cup trophies collected by them from our hand, the amount of nations Cup trophies in their possession, world cup appearances, Etoo for example has records which no Nigerian can dream of having in both the African Nations Cup, Ballon d'or and champions league etc etc.
Truth be told, J.J Okocha for example no fit lace Etoo shoe when e concern soccer.

grin It's way too obvious that franvincoop's only purpose is to try and provoke me and he has failed.

However, let's ignore him and talk about facts.

Both the European Cup and the Champions League were/are organised by UEFA, were/are both the CAF African Player of the Year and the Ballon d'Or Africain organised by the same organisation? smiley

What he is saying is almost like saying that the Ballon d'Or and the FIFA The Best Award are the same, but every sensible person knows that this is not true, Rodri won the 2024 Ballon d'Or while Vinicius Jr won the 2024 FIFA The Best Award.

Just like Abedi Pele won the 1993 Ballon d'Or Africain and Rashidi Yekini won the 1993 CAF Player of the Year award.

Why? Because the 2 awards are not the same. Every sensible person knows this and I don't need to waste my time arguing about it.

As for me, I started watching Jay Jay as from Tunisia 94
I'm probably too young to remember?

I watched Okocha at Mauritius 93 Junior AFCON..

Watched him make his senior debut against CIV at Abidjan ,May 93..

You all get carried away by flair and a nice touch..

A few over the ball tricks doesn't mean he was the best ever..

Football is a team sports, not a one man show .

What was his end product, how much does he influence matches?

I'm no hater, but i'll objectively take a Kanu over an Okocha any day..

Well, each person to their own soup

I watch football to be entertained
