Personally, the only place I can live on the Island is Ikoyi. Never will I live in that goddammit traffic place called Island. Ikeja and Magodo are good places. However, I still prefer Adekunle and the streets surrounding Herbert Marcaulay because they are only a 10-minute drive from the Island. I check my map and move whenever the road is clear. Live on the Island if you don't value your life.

Sure, you can get properties on the Island , but stay away if you want to live long. If you can afford Ikoyi, that's the best place in Lagos.
you are right I think that is the only less polluted environ in Lagos when I was living I used to live on the Island I used to suffer brain drain from the stress and smell of that rubbish place imagine crossing over filled gutter upon gutter very useless flooded environ you make the money but spend it there very useless state. I can't live their only if a company is willing to offer me a conducive 4 bedroom apartment with good water and stable pay of around 6m per month anything that falls short make dem keep their job.

You can still stay in your Village. Everyone competes with him/herself in Lagos with the ultimate desire to make it.

Lagos is still evolving. From Bolelaja to Molue to mini Yellow busses to BRT and now red and blue railway lines. There is a better hope ahead for Lagos. States should learn to partner to develop their states.

Lagos: the city of magic, the mecca of Nigeria, home to all, the centre of excellence and the melting pot of Africa stands tall not only in Nigeria but in Africa as a whole.

The truth remains however that Lagos is an ongoing project but given the sustained, focused and progressive infrastructural development by successive governments, Lagos is sure heading somewhere grandeur.

This feat can't be said of other states where successive governments don't work from any blueprint as each administration tends to work at cross purposes thereby living the states worse for it.

From Tinubu to Fashola, Ambode and now Sanwo Olu it has always been on a "template for transformation", building on the same trajectory.

Truly, Eko Oni Baje o!

Mainland is not this picture friendly but everywhere shown are real, just that the OP kept showing hotels and some places multiple times.
Showing world class hotels indicates that the place is business-friendly and tourist-friendly.

You don't hide such infrastructure or pretend it's not there.

Not up to 5% of lagos is beautiful. I passed through TBS yesterday and I saw glory that is dead. All the Federal buildings are a ghost of themselves. If this person knew Lagos back then he/she will know that what is dead is more than what they are showcasing. They are only using blue background and lighting everywhere
Re: Beyond The Island: Beautiful Pictures Of Lagos Mainland by BreconHills(m): 8:29am On Dec 18, 2024
The mainland hides it's treasures very well.

There are some amazing eateries and funspots as well as amazing estates. There are some off ikorodu road that are as serene as ikoyi.

And for first class schools in which you won't mortgage your children's future for status - Mainland is unbeatable.

But where you live is very much down to your pocket and lifestyle. I do not think any location should be written off. It's all about personal happiness. Nobody can prescribe a one size fits all.

Unfortunately the residents don't reside inside hotels.

What he showed as mainland apart from the terminals aren't even up to 1% of the total mainland

Take it from a mainlander.

We know he's trying to help prop the mainland image but e far from reality.

Liar. What about your own beautiful city? Why are you not there? What are you doing in Lagos?

If it was located in the south east, would you type this? Idiot witch.

Honestly, this is not necessary.

I know why you feel the need to respond but sometimes, the concept of "mojukuro" is the best thing.

For me, before opening these threads, I expect the worst from Obidients and they don't dissapoint.

From mandalas market to your house after market closed is the worst stress I’ve seen in this Lagos.

Very bad transport system. Bad road, dilapidated motors.

Saw people jumping into car from windows.

Mehn, the government need to work more on the transportation system

You are talking rubbish.

How many times do you see images of ordinary streets in pictures of New York or London? Is it not always the landmarks like Manhattan and Trafalgar Square and Big Ben?

But when it comes to Nigeria we must ignore the landmarks and show you the “ordinary streets”.

Rubbish.

This is a beautiful effort, if we don't showcase our beauty who will do it for us? The beauty of Lagos is not restricted to the island alone.

Kindly do well to capture more, all these African countries will respect us more.

I don't want to talk about the classy new Owerri

Old Owerri residency beat Ikeja by miles..
Areas like Prefab, aladinma, ikenegbu, ikenegbu extension, transegbu, customs quarters, Evan ewerem, Royce, MCC bypasses, Bishop's court, egbeada, akwakuma, works layout, shell camp, ShopRite etc

I have a family house around Costain, and you can take Carter bridge which is even closer than Gbagada and Oworo. That place is the real center of Lagos. As in, you are in CMS in 5 minutes and will be at Borny camp before you close your eyes. Sure, I don't mind Gbagada at all. And I do not mind Costain, but there is a reason for streets close to Herbert Marcaulay. If you own property in that area, there is a jackpot worth slightly less than Lekki. That place is the tech hub of Lagos also. Do you remember when Mark Zerkaburg came here and ran down the street? Think about it. That place is quiet. Let me give you an extremely quiet location where you can count the number of people and cars. Go check Harvey Road and adjacent streets. So peaceful and quiet. Even as Yaba was crazy and noisy in those days, that area was so quiet. Very few people know this area. I have a friend who has a family house on three plots, so they have a large garden. Guy, that is a place we rest and meditate. Very peaceful.

In addition, if you purchase a property there and use it for Airbnb, you will attract good customers. Gabgada too can be used but very noisy for me. Magodo is good. No doubt.

Like I said earlier, I check my map and when it is free, I move. Third mainland isn't that bad, and I can always avoid Obalende. When last did I even drive pass Obalende? And bros...I don't even drive like that. I prefer using Uber. My focus aren't only the bridges that connect Mainland to Island, but the traffic on Island. I would rather prefer to get trapped on the third Mainland bridge that in Ozumba Nbadiwe, not to talk of down inside Lekki. God forbids. Never. But I won't get trapped because I always check my map before moving. Yes, I am self employed....you gat it.
Well I get your point and you're right also. I grew up in Ebute Metta/Yaba. I know these places so well. I'm just saying that Gbagada is closer if you look at it well.

Change that to the influx of Igbos into Yorubaland without regulations. Yorubas are Yorubas anywhere in Yorubaland.

The most developed city in Nigeria. The only state in Nigeria that can stand as a country. Just give it to Lagos.

Have you ever seen a big company or industry in Nigeria that doesn't have a headquarter or strategic branch in Lagos? None. And again most Nigerians that are not residing in Lagos have family members or relatives definitely residing in Lagos.
Not trying to rain on your parade, but Lagos CAN’T stand on its own as a country separate from Nigeria! There’s a slight chance it may be able to retain some of its economic influence and cosmopolitan nature (ie, be the Singapore or Dubai of West Africa), but that depends on if it continues with the current ‘Yorubanisation’ of its politics and governance….both of which will have an effect on its economy and investor confidence!

Owerri has barely improved ever since the Rochas years! I can’t wait for that usurper in Douglas House (that’s when the bothers to leave Abuja) to just do and go! And if Ndi-Imo like they can allow him to rig in a puppet to succeed him!

I did not argue with you about which is closer between Herbert Marcaulay and Gbagada. All I did was tell you why I prefer the former. And I did say that even though Costain is the closest and I have a family home there, I might not take it.

OK. Let me rank my preferences from most to least preferred.

1. Ikoyi
2. Surelere (Bode Thomas, Ogunsanya down to Ogunlana). I can easily climb the bridge in Costain and get to the island quickly. But I will be cautious about the traffic. What applies to Herbert Marcauly applies to this location as well.
3. Herbert Marcauly
4. Magodo
5. Gbagada (I will have to really check very well for a good spot).
6. Ikeja to Maryland (I will not attempt to connect the Island here. Only proximity to the international airport and high-valued properties exist here.

To be honest, I think Number 3 is the most affordable and underrated. I can easily connect WAEC, YabaTech, and UNILAG. In addition, Ozone in Sabo is a good weekend recreation spot. Suya spots there too. If I am near Harvey Road, I can easily put on my workout clothes and jog around the neighborhood...just enter different cool streets and pull out to Ozone...and then Muritala Muhammed road. Alternatively, I can easily run from Yaba to Oyingbo along Muritala Muhammed road via the pedestrian walkway beside the BRT lane. Do you know why I love this? The land on that side of the road is part of the railway compound. No sellers with kioks because the railway corporation forbids them.

If I am going to anywhere very far in Lagos and I don't want any wahala and train reaches the places, I can easily get on board at either Alagomeji terminal or oyingbo.

Let me stop here. I can keep going on why this area is just perfect. It is so underappreciated, but believe me, guys are already making it one of the areas where smart investors live and tech guys operate from. That area also has excellent Internet connectivity. Honestly, the place is fantastic for a variety of reasons.

Ypu can connect Ojuelegba and Oyingbo easily (those two newly constructed bridges that prevent motorists from passing through the railway eradicate traffics there on most days...though there can still be issues there) and then move along Western Avenue. Before you know it, you are at the National Stadium and Teslim Balogun Stadium in less than 5 mins if you move on a day there is no traffic. And just 2 mins further, you have reached the National Theater at Iganmu. Can you see that this area connects everywhere? So many good activities I have shown you. This is the real place to enjoy Lagos if you are self employed and enjoy your time. This area is good for taking your family out every weekend. So many good spots to relax and catch fun. Hahaha! Lest I forgot...just at Casino, there is Rowe Park for mini trainings and sports if you don't want to go to the National Stadium or Teslim Balogun. 2 stadia and one standard sport center. Let me burst your head...just drive a bit further from Yaba and enter Ojuelegba...if there is traffic, enter Surulere via Ogulana drive...and you can navigate to Lagos Teaching University Hospital easily.

Like I said, I don't drive cos taking Uber or Bolt is more efficient.

Let me stop here. Just read...Where in Lagos can you get this? Where?

Sir, I appreciate this conversation.. thanks. I hope readers can learn from this post..
