Who is God? would sound like a very simple question but to explain the Almighty God who has no beginning and has no end is not a simple task for the mortal man. According to the bible God is one but He exists in 3 persons - The Father, The Son and The HolySpirit. What? you man ask. It is beyond human comprehension but that is what the bible says. The Muslims for instance beleive there is one God who exist in one person. This is quite simple to follow but the bible disagrees. In Gen 1:26 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." The word used for God is plural "Elohim" Then the prophets started to prophesy that God will be born. His name will be called "Immanuel" meaning The Almighty God is with us. The Jew cannot even pronounce the name of God with his lips let alone comprehend that God will dwell with man or be born by a woman. Yet that is what the prophets said. Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel." Isaiah 9:6 "6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." The prophets were clear that God will be born. This baffled alot of the Jews. It is so incomprehensible but yet they beleived it and had many ideas of how God will come. Angel Gabriel told the virgin Mary that the child in Luke 1:35 "And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God." To the Jew only God is Holy. Yet the angel said the one to be born will be Holy. The disciples of Jesus died defending that Jesus is God. John 1: 1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God." John 1:14-15 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me" Even though John the baptist was born before Jesus. John was clear that Jesus existed before him in eternity past. He confirmed his birth is an incarnation. Jesus himself said in John 8:58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” In John 10:30 "I and my Father are one" Jesus instructed his disciples that to baptise a person it must done in the name of the three persons who is God. Matt 28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" In Revelation this is what Jesus said of himself "And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Revelations 1:17-18 Many have argued who Jesus really is....it clear he is not an angel.....he was fully man....yet fully God. The things he did....power over death, nature, health can only be done by God. Yet he died and was raised again as he said. And he is coming again.....even those who deny his deity will bow and worship him as God |

MaxInDHouse:The Lord led his people out of Egypt through Moses.....The presence of the Lord was with them....but it is the Lord who took credit for leading Isreal out of Egypt. And said unto the children of Israel, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all kingdoms, and of them that oppressed you 1 Samuel 10:18 If by your question you are suggesting that Jesus is an angel that would be wrong. Pick a bible and read the book of the Revelation and it will be clear to you that angels bow and worship Jesus. Yet when John wanted to worship an angel the angel said only God must be worshipped. The angel rejected human worship. The person of Christ has caused controversy over the ages.....the church fathers in 326 BCE had a full council to discuss who is God? They came up with what is known as the nicence creed or the Apostles creed which today defines who is and who is not a Christian. Anyone who does not beleive this truth as revelead in the teachings of the Apostles is not considered a Christian. We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, begotten from the Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made; of the same essence as the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary, and was made human. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried. The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom will never end. And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life. He proceeds from the Father and the Son, and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified. He spoke through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and to life in the world to come. Amen. |
