An unconfirmed number of residents of Okija community in Anambra state have reportedly lost their lives in a stampede.

TheCable understands that the stampede occurred on Saturday morning during an event for the distribution of yuletide rice.

The Ibadan incident should have made people be weary of large crowds for freebies.

Anything could spark a stampede at such a gathering.

Which kind sad news be this again.

Tinubu should please open the border atleast we Nigerians can see cheaper rice to buy instead of begging for rice.

A bag of rice used to be 7500 and since Buhari closed the border to help local farmers rice now unaffordable to common Nigerians.

What kind of people organizes these kind of things without safety measures...?

There are times we need to raise above the lows and don't go lower with those throwing the first mud. This is a very unfortunate incident, we should rather commiserate with the families. Those unfortunate trolls mudslinging SW over the ibadan incident can now see that life is unpredictable. May the deceased rip and God comfort their families.

Good, the reality could be this never happened

Whether the report is verifiably true or not, no one in their right senses would politicize or give ethnic coloration to a calamity that befalls people; irrespective of their region, religion, ethnicity or who they voted for, our shared humanity should always rise above all these primordial & diabolic sentiments.

May the souls of those who have died in avoidable stampedes Rest In Peace. State Governments especially should henceforth start paying closer attention to events that attract large gatherings before it becomes a pattern.
