I'm not buying this. The country has suffered immeasurably over this painfull attempts to grow local rice. People are starving. Local rice is even outpacing foreign rice in terms of pricing. Now people are dying all over the place. It is time to find a way to solve the problem. If the socalled farmers who don't pay taxes but will shoot up their prices to high heavensa are incapable of meeting local demands with reasonable prices, imports should be allowed atleast in the interim. Enough is enough ahbegi.

Funnily, I saw some videos and comments (coming from some ibos) yesterday seemingly mocking the Yorubas over the death of those poor kids. If I was from that senseless tribe, I would be dancing today on hearing this horrendous news. You see, politics have made people to grow so stupid that human lives are now seen as nothing. They littered the comment sections gloating about how the dead children were Yoruba children. Human children o. We can do better as a people to be honest. Hunger knows no tribe or color but some unfortunate entities don’t mind if you die just because they lost an election.

Some of the people we pass off as dead in accidents may only be in shock, coma, fainting or simply unconscious.

And mortuaries are not known to reject patients.

Thoughts that some people among them may still be truly alive makes me sick.

Whether the report is verifiably true or not, no one in their right senses would politicize or give ethnic coloration to a calamity that befalls people; irrespective of their region, religion, ethnicity or who they voted for, our shared humanity should always rise above all these primordial & diabolic sentiments.

May the souls of those who have died in avoidable stampedes Rest In Peace. State Governments especially should henceforth start paying closer attention to events that attract large gatherings before it becomes a pattern.

The reason why food production in Nigeria is bad is because of transport and storage issues, not because we don't produce enough.

We need better transport infrastructure in this country...and that means we need to massively increase our revenue. But this means taxing the majority of NIgerians that do not pay tax to federal and state governments, and also taking hard Millei type decisions. Tinubu does not want that, so he borrows to prop up the naira, while we use importation to run away from our economic problems...

LIke I said, you guys complain about how weak the naira is...well mass importation of rice would drain our forex reserves, which would come back to bite us in the arse, and leave us with more expensive rice anyway, because inflation.

At some point we have to take the hard road of increased production at home. Instead of over importing. It's sad that our government and the oppostion cannot effing see that.
