I agree with him. Naomi was simply trying to help the government. In saner climes poor people have certain benefits they get from the government and as such nobody will have the need to organise palliatives for them cry

Let's be honest with ourselves: poverty is a colossal force in the land, so undeniable that even the deaf and blind can't overlook it.

Well, here we go again.

While still in mourning mood over the precious lives lost due to tragic incidents stemming from the distribution of palliatives, I am deeply pained that such occurrences are a reflection of the severe hunger and poverty currently ravaging our nation. My heartfelt condolences go to the affected families, communities, and states.

In the first paragraph, Peter Obi opens with a scathing criticism that such activities are a reflection of severe hunger and poverty ravaging the nation. He does this before offering condolences to the affected families.

The recent arrest of the organizers of a palliative distribution program in Oyo state, spearheaded by the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, has come to my attention. I want to make a heartfelt appeal to the government to reconsider this action. Acts of goodwill, even when they unintentionally result in unfortunate outcomes, should not be criminalized. This particular initiative was intended to alleviate suffering and bring relief to the people.

Mr Peter Obi needs to realize that everything must not be politicized. It was the responsibility of organizers to have taken steps to ensure safety of those they invited. If there are lapses, people must be held responsible. Peter Obi used this line to attempt to curry favours from those he thinks are sympathetic to the woman in question. Peter Obi must allow the police do their work and not attempt to influence anything with thoughtless utterances.

If accountability is to be sought, it should begin with the leaders and policymakers whose cumulative actions—or inactions—have inflicted the widespread hardship and suffering we see today. It is the systemic failure of governance, not the efforts of well-meaning individuals, that should be scrutinized.
This exposes Obi as myopic and a poor leader. Did the government kill those children? It is quite distressing that Peter Obi attempts to exonerate himself from the cumulative leadership failure. Reno Omokri had cautioned Obi over a similar incident that occurred in November 2013 where 29 persons died in a stampede during Obi's tenure as governor.
https://punchng.com/its-wrong-blaming-tinubu-for-stampedes-omokri-tells-obi/

As a nation, we must collectively retrace our steps and prioritize policies and actions that uplift the lives of our people. Let us redirect our focus toward creating a system where no citizen is left desperate for necessities. In doing so, we can begin to rebuild trust and ensure that tragedies like these are not repeated. -PO
This is too pedestrian. Leadership is a shift job. Obi talks as if he never had the chance to lead somewhere. Is the place an El Dorado today? What were Obi's campaign themes? Buzz phrases like "consumption to production", "dismantle the structure of criminality", "reduce poverty", etc. While Obi knows the "what", he is bereft of ideas on the "how". Comsumption to production of WHAT exactly? Dismantle the structure of criminality? HOW?
It would have been okay to offer condolences and leave politics out of it. People died, and Obi has tried to use the sad incident for political advantage.

He should not be voted to lead if he cannot act like a leader.

I disagree with Obi on this, we should allow the authorities to do thorough investigation, we don't like taking responsibility when something bad happens, the organizers of these events should be questioned

I agree that our irresponsible leaders are the root cause of this, they also have their own blame
Oga shut up. Stop being senseless. Investigate what?

They don't care what tinubu does. All they are happy about is that he is president. Even if he gives order that their children should be beheaded, they are ok with it as long as the president is yoruba

I thought they said obi was exposed.

So, in the western world, the Government would look the other way after 35 children were dead, and some are still dying in the hospital.

This guy can never be president because he always attempts to sound politically correct. I don’t expect more anyway from someone who claims to take advice from a madman.

He is such a wicked soul for turning tragedy of this proportion to politics. He should have kept quiet when he has nothing reasonable to say. Must he talk on everything?

I pray he contests in the next election again, this time, his loss will be legendary.

Obi is wrong on this.

If she is investigated and is found that procedural management was not applied she can be sued for culpable homicide .

There is a difference between good and right.

Government is not run on emotions

Hope you deh okay? What concerns Tinubu with what happened, however, we are not surprised at all your level of bitterness ever since the man made a strategic victory to be the president. If actually your brain is functioning, you should know some Nigerians have this habit of covetousness, greediness and impatience such that even if they have surplus, they will still clamour for more. People need to be held accountable for their actions. Was it Tinubu that gave them the directive to announce such on the radio without putting safeguarding concerns into considerations. People just do things in Nigeria because they know the law is not effective to curb their actions. After the incidence of Ibadan, how come organisers in Anambra and Abuja never learned from such and still threw away safeguarding rules. When we tell you some of our people are adamant to corrections, you'll be blaming the leaders left and right. No be every bad thing you go deh attribute Tinubu every time, people also need to check themselves. Palliatives can be given to children in their various schools without making it public and it will not cause issue rather than all these showbiz palliatives

For telling truth again. As you and I get food for house, nobody fit dangle promise of food and we go run go there. If you know how many people wet I don wire money this year because of this economy, I never send money like that before. Poverty really high for this time. Make we talk truth, not on attack mode because he is from the east. Right now, some people don send me message because of food. I go need wire some money.

All this trash you wrote is unnecessary.

Why giving palliative when the FG can open boarder to crash down price of food in the market and the parents of those children can afford to buy food to feed their kids.

Why weaponzing POVERTY? Seems ur brain is leaking! It's obvious people like you are the reason the govt will keep weaponzing poverty.

What lovely truth from the clownish leader looter of Obingos?

The former Olori should have taken adequate crowd control measures to prevent the deaths.

Poverty would have been worse than this one, under T-Pain.

[quote author=NLCreator post=126854133]Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, has defended the purchase of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for members of the national assembly.

There have been reports that the leadership of the 10th national assembly has bought SUVs for all lawmakers.

Each SUV is said to be valued at N160 million.

The LP had asked members of the party in the national assembly to kick against “wastage”.

While responding to questions during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the former governor of Anambra said the SUVs are not personal cars of the lawmakers, noting that they are for official use.

“Let me start with the issue of Labour Party members in the house. I have actually discussed this issue with them,” Obi said.

“Surprisingly, I can tell you I heard that these vehicles are official cars. They have to use it. It is meant for office.

“So it is not as if it is their vehicle. They said it is official cars and you are meant to use it while you are in the senate.”

Obi also hinted at contesting for the country’s number one position in 2027, adding that Nigeria deserves dedicated and visionary leaders who will lead the country towards a brighter future.
