Nigerians always take advantage to increase prices knowing the government will be blamed. What you bought for 2k three weeks ago, you are selling it today for 12k, 15k because it's festive period. In other countries, people do sales and discount in festive periods. Little wonder, they end up richer and bigger than we are.

The cost of living here is rising to UK levels, yet we still struggle with inadequate infrastructure, poor leadership, and electricity shortages.

The Caribbeans and some South Americans, actually the plantains sold in the UK are majorly imported from Ecuador (South America).

Interesting. That means you diasporans have access to many of our native food. Do they sell our kind of local beans there?

The 3 peppers were a pound and the 3 plantain was £2.
Deptford High Street nah gbaju ę, even Rye Lane Peckham & Peckham High Street joined sef too

You're better off shop at East Street Market, off Walworth Road for bargain deals.
Shey plantain ni, tangerines ni, mangoes ni, oranges ni, limes ni, lemons ni, peppers ni, particularly avocados, they are all bought at a steal and bumper
- boli I made yesterday from plantains I got from East Street Market at half dozen for £1 (i.e. 6 for £1)
- I have, got from East Street Market, at least an avocado almost every day

Till date, most of the sellers stand to sell. No shops to rent. It's an open market yet AMAC tax them heavily everyday. Can't they just do something right for once.
So cos they don't have shop, they shouldn't pay tax?
For someone selling one basket at 32. If he sells 10 baskets in a day, that is 320000, and you don't want to pay tax

So what are you implying?

In Walthamstow market, bag of onion is £150, a bowl of about 20 peppers is £1, pound a bowl! As the Paki sellers shout Out to shoppers, At Dalston market in Hackney these things are even cheaper.

Plaintain is 70pence, 3 for £2. Again, i ask, what is your point? For posting these information you did.

Ę tun na. (i.e. loosely translated, means, are you for real, with this your pricing market statement)
Of course, everything is here, local beans and all. Naiyja restaurants even sell cooked local beans
- Same thing I told my mum of blessed memory, the other day, that dont worry about foodstuffs because everything almost is here

That will be way way way way more in the US. UK isn’t the only country in the world. Whenever price of things is being discussed, please u people should try and rest

Why’s groceries cheap like this in the UK tho? It’s not like that in the US. As a single person, $300 isn’t enough for groceries in a month

Yeah, UK is cheaper when it comes to buying foodstuffs as shipping costs from Africa to the UK is lower, when compared to the US.

The price of onions I bought for 30k for my mum in the village is not something I can't be proud of...it was very expensive. I bought half of a quarter bag for 30k this morning.

In fact, tomatoes have equally gone up because of the season we are in and prices of different species according to the baskets.

The pictures above are the ones being sold for #32,000 for big baskets and small baskets are going for 21k.

Sharing is also allowed for those who might not have the need for much.

A bag of pepper was sold for 38k this morning.
