A woman has taken to social media to express her frustration with Lagos property agents, accusing them of wasting clients' time by showcasing overpriced houses that often don’t match their value.

In a video she shared, she revealed that an agent took her to see a house with an annual rent of 2.5 million naira. When she tried to point out that the rent was too high for the property, the agent responded that if she didn’t want it, someone else would rent it within a week.

She further lamented that agents often call prospective tenants early in the morning to check out houses, only to show them properties that aren’t worth the time or money.

She should look for another one .. those agent can be mean most times .. they will load more money than the actual price ..

This is exactly the issue. No matter how exorbitant the price is, there is always someone eager to pay. This is what will emboldened these agents to keep on increasing the prices.

To begin with, who started all the mess we're in today? When the government cares less about the public and their welfare, every individual follows suit. If the governor or president enforces a law that says rents must be collected either every 6 months or monthly, dem no born that agent to misbehave. The government also has the right to ensure value for money.

because many don't leave the shores of Nigeria, they dont tend to know how much they're suffering in the hands of their leaders they're praising. In kenya, rent is paid monthly. Nothing like all these ridiculous agency fees. Same in Botswana,Rwanda,etc. These are the countries we call mushroom.Rents are fixed based on some facilities in place. You don't need to move in your fridge, washing machine and cooking gas. But here, an agent could take you to the slum and ask you to pay 2m naira. Who would you cry to? Democracy in Nigeria is the opposite of it's true meaning. They don't care if you exist or not.

The Abnormalities going on in Nigeria with agents, and government isn't doing nothing about it.

The government should restrict all agent fees to 5-10% of the actual rent.

Imagine these idiots charging x2 of actual rent as agent fee... It has gotten so worse to extend that even if you meet the landlord yourself, he'll still charge agent fee.

That house only needs a few TLC . I don’t know why people can’t do simple maintenance.
Just a few plastering here and there and painting. Then call an electrician to tidy the wiring before renting it out.
Even the exterior is just pressure wash to remove molds.

When I heard Ago I wasn't surprised. Overpriced rubbish. That was how I dodged 1.5m apartment with brown water.

My friend use to call them "Katikati" but I didn't understand until recently.

A Landlord is charging 150k for 3 Bedroom, a Caretaker will approach him and say the house is now worth 350k and add 150k for himself and call Total package of 500k (this is a state outside Lagos ooo).

Well, the Caretaker people should continue, very soon hand go touch them.

Demand for house in Lagos is extremely high. Just normal for rent to go high with demand

No the house is available, the owner lives at the other side. That's the street I grew up. You get old houses less than 2m at ago.

Lagos is a terrible slum!!! Always stinks whenever I land in that city
