I am a total novice about all of these but am enthusiastic about it. Infact am considering buying a laptop and if you would advice, what specifications should I be looking for, like ram, hdd etc. But can phone be used to do anything for now?

You have a phone, start from there. Go to YouTube and search for videos on Excel basics, then look for projects in Excel with formulas and work on them. With time, you'll become perfect in it.

Then you can move to power BI.

@DataAIchemist or any guru in the house who can help out should please for Christ sake answer this beautiful question about the laptop specification to use/buy, coz i am deeply in need of help on how to start from this very first help make i no go make mistake wey go later kill my morale. If you intend getting your hands dirty with tools like Power BI don’t try it on a PC with just 4GB or 8GB of RAM—it’ll frustrate you .

Because the tool Power BI Desktop is resource-intensive.

I’d strongly recommend going for a PC with at least 16GB of RAM. Before I got my HP ZBook 3 . I actually got it for video editing. I used an HP ProBook with 8GB of RAM. Every time I tried running Power BI on the ProBook, it was fond of getting Into freeze mode. But now with my ZBook 3, using Power BI desktop has been hassle-free .

For context, my ZBook 3 comes with a 4GB internal graphics card.

You can go on Jiji and search for 16 gig Ram and above fairly used laptops. I think that's a good starting point

The problem with this data analytics is a bit saturated. Getting a job is a hard nut to crack. Ive studied it. I need where i can put it into good use.

Nowadays even my 97 years grandma is a data analyst. Anything Nigerian make noise about always cast. That's how they did for programming and frontend development. Go on Twitter everybody is now a data analytics even those that studied fine arts and English.

Those of us that did Core math at bachelor degree know how complex data science and analytics can be.
