African Player of the Year 2025 maths
My opinion 😅😆

Salah can stat pad all he wants in the EPL but if
Liverpool wins the EPL and Atalanta wins the Scudetto, African best award will go to Lookman because it’s not normal for Atalanta to win Serie A
That’s record breaking
It’s unprecedented

Only thing that will hinder Lookman from retaining the award is if Liverpool get to UCL semifinals
If Liverpool get to UCL finals and win the EPL , Mo Salah since George Weah will win the Ballon d’or and all the other awards available

I would like to see a rematch of Liverpool vs Atalanta in the UCL knockout stages, I just wanna see the better team. I don’t think Atalanta will easily take the L though 😅
Maybe Liverpool will revenge for last seasons UEL knockout

I doubt CAF will take World Cup qualification serious

Philosopher1979:
Let us have a comparison. Just to show how talented our golden generation was.
A midfield of okocha kanu and oliseh will not be outdone by a midfield of xavi, inesta and basquets.
The person who will collect the midfield from okocha has not been born. Talk less of when you put Kanu and oliseh.
It's my opinion but it's open for discussion
Okoca, kanu, oliseh vs
Xavi, iniesta busquets

Did well against Spain in France 98.
Did well against Argentina and Brazil in atalanta 96.

Harsh but sadly true. Let me add they couldn't also beat 10-man Senegal in the 2002 AFCON.

That Italian team got to play in the world cup final. We were the closest to eliminating them. Sadly the inexperience of Eguavone cost us that match.

That Cameroonian team was the predecessor to the Egyptian team that dominated African football. That Cameroonian team had the likes of Patrick Mboma , Rigobert Song and young Eto'o. They were unstoppable and even when the Senegalese team of El Haj Diouf was at it's peak it couldn't beat the Cameroonian side. Not until 2004 before we were able to break that yoke. Remember who did the magic, JJ okocha with that wonderful freekick, and Kanu with that lovely , sexy penetrating through pass to Utaka

Brazil is always Brazil. In a friendly match to launch the 2003 newly built abuja stadium. Where we had an emerging talent in Ronaldinho. Don't forget they had just won the world cup a year earlier.

Same Senegal that went on to reach the Quarter finals of the World Cup in their debut appearance same year. To be honest, we were up against Senegal's Peak Golden Generation. That team was fire!!! That's how I consoled myself years later after that loss.

Update on TheGoodJoe

NB: Please kindly put banters aside and take this seriously. Resist also the insensitive temptation to link this to Man City's current run of form. This is no joking matter, I plead

Now, I know a couple of monikers have been asking for weeks now about the whereabouts of TheGoodJoe. Truth is, I didn't want to share anything even though I knew all along what was happening with him and that is because I had not gotten his consent yet to share it (I have that now). He was going through a whole lot healthwise and I kept touch with him from the onset.
I just didn't wanna bring something so sensitive and private without his consent to the thread.

About 2 weeks ago or so, TheGoodJoe suffered a diabetic mini-stroke that really knocked him down. It led to him entering a semi-coma which kept him bed ridden for days but now he is up and fine again and has even been discharged as recently as yesterday.

He is fine but still undergoing serious followup checks with his doctors and more.

Please, kindly channel some of your prayers 🙏🏽🙏🏽to TheGoodJoe's health. Pray that this diabetic episode won't see the last of him. It is well. Amen.

In all, TheGoodJoe is sound currently. He can walk again and move around. He couldn't as at several days and weeks back. He is okay but still needs checks to ensure no relapse occurs. We thank God for his Life.

He also wishes you all a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year ahead.

I have seen a compilation of his game one time and I was not impressed.

I noticed he always had his back against the post and he rarely make effort to take on his markers, dribble his way through or hold up play in order to bring his teammate in a better position before laying a pass, instead, he always opted for the easy way out by making quick back passes and repositioning for another back pass if given the ball. I hope he has improved on that. If you have some videos of him, please share.

Yep they were good but no excuse for struggling to beat a team down to 10-men that were even outplaying us all game. No prejudice to that year's Senegalese squad were unlucky not to win their first AFCON tournament.

Same as me other than his goal scoring I haven't seen anything to convince me that he's a massive upgrade on Boniface, Moffi or even Awoniyi.

Exactly why they were so so good. The loss of one player didn't dampen their quality. We had a few chances to nick it though with the numerical advantage but it wasn't gonna be deserved. I would say we deservedly lost that game. Lol
