The above explanations are correct (clean & dirty bond prices) except in this case, it is not accrued interest for the whole of November 2024 that will be paid.
To be precise, you will pay accrued interest from 16 November 2024 to 24 December 2024 (23 December + 1 day settlement date) if you buy tomorrow because the maturity date for the 2033 FGN bond is 15 May 2033 from the prices you were quoted wink

manwomanok:
Good, That exactly layman explanation I wanted. Thank you sir

it mean if I buy tomorrow I will pay accrued interest of Nov. and Dec, plus broker's charges? also can you say something about the Bid price 94.98 and Bid yield 21.18.

Thank you once more

Please kindly update if you've been paid for 2038 bond that was due on the 21/12/2024.

The days of high returns on Treasury Bills are dead and buried.

People here should look out for the new Finance Bill about to be presented to the national Assembly by the FG.

The amount spent by the FG in debt repayments is too high and they cannot afford to allow interests on govt borrowing to be high again.

Time to play the NSE , NYSE, Cryptos or just be ready to accept low rates on your TBills.
Throwback insights.

Yes I am oo and happy for it though I'm on the receving end this time as I'm handling a project back home. The good thing is that most rates have almost merged

It's mainly just the first hurdle. The government needs to bring down inflation quickly. At 33%, a sum of naira loses half of its value in 2yrs plus. When directly exchanging with other economies who have a much lower inflation rate, it's only a matter of time before the naira loses further value except our economy is growing at an alarming rate (which its not).

The government should aim to bring inflation below 12% by the end of their current tenure.

I and another colleague are yet to receive.

Our cases must not be isolated ones so reverify the status.

Thanks

Hi guys,

Please can I opt for my interest to be paid at the end of the tbills tenor (so as to get the implied yield) in both primary and secondary market? Or is secondary market always debited at the discounted rate?
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Batman2412(m): 7:45pm On Dec 28, 2024
With tbills via I-invest app, you get interest and capital upon maturity. But traditionally, via bank, you get interest upfront and capital upon maturity

Thanks for your reply, however, I am a bit skeptical about the I-INVEST APP, is it safe to use, are the funds as safe as they would be if is done via the bank?
