Writing an exam to get license to practice in a country is different from start a degree to get trained.

Getting license is just like what we called a competency assessment.

You can be certified to practice as a dr in the us right from your home country provided you av passed passed your steps 1 and 2 (both can be written in west africa) which gives you the ability to go for your residency training in the US...takes 4 year to 7 years to finish your residency program.

See when it comes to dealing with life mostly in the field of medicine, you don't just say because you are a doctor in Nigeria then you qualify to be a doctor and just come and practice like that.

There are not just one exam but multiple exams and test tests you will take in addition to that you your Nigerian degrees because that those Nigerian degrees [s]is are considered mid-level. Our standard of teaching is rubbish
In the UK alone multiple Nigerians are in jail because they gave the wrong dose of medication to the victim who died due to unprofessional ethics. What I am trying to say is,
You must meet the countries own educational requirements to practice in their country and you must meet those requirements which you have to go back to school or write a certain exam to proof you are proficient enough to fill that role as required.

I hope I try to explain this as much understandable as I can for you.

You see all those doctors here in Nigeria right, they are not doctors when the relocate abroad. They get jobs as home care aid to nursing sick people. That is a different occupation far far from practicing as a doctor in America or Canada or UK.
Infact you can as well apply to be a home care assistant as well with your university degree from Nigeria which is considered a normal equivalent to diploma here. You just have to pass the nursing exam which I know a 200level university student from Nigeria can read the Q&A and pass as well.
What you do is simply take care of old people or mentally unstable people and make sure they don't poop on their self or when they do you change them and also make sure they take their meds regularly and also monitor them so they don't harm their self.
Anybody can do that job infact that is equivalent to a factory job if you don't know only this time you be more careful because you handling a human life and can be arrested and you go to jail if you flop because it is stated there in your agreement you sign before you start working.

If you want to be a doctor in these countries, you have to apply for a medical or a nursing program/ degree where you undergo the process from the begining according to the countries teaching regulations and standards, pass the necessary exams, go for your training practice, write another exam if you fail you have to retake it which happens very often because I have friends who it has happened to. Then luckily you pass them you go under the process to be a certified nurse or doctor depending on the field you choose.

Yes!!! I know a lot of Naija guys (USA) in IT that got employed with their first degree certificates. The best part is that they don't consider if you are a third class or first class student. If you are able to pass the interview, you are good to go. Pls guys to destroy your certificates because it will come handy when you get the opportunity.

In your post you asserted that Nigerian certs are not acknowledged abroad. That doctors here work as care providers in nursing home. And all that.

Nigerian medical certificates are FULLY ACKNOWLEDGED abroad. The exams them dey write no be for extra university schooling or something...na to ensure they meet the minimum requirements to practice there are an FOG.

If you want to say core IT where you get paid at least $90k to $139k and above baba you must get a good certification.

Infact do you know that now in America if you graduate from the university in any American university with computer science or any IT related job, chances are you won't get a job at all.

CERTIFICATION. That's what practically everyone has been telling you. Certification comes before licensure. It is not a sign of non-recognition of your diploma. It's a question of standardization. Why do I even bother?

Well, I think there’s misunderstanding between both of you. The op said if you can apply directly with your Nigeria degree and the answer is yes but first, you must take a level of exam to acquire a license and practice as one. You can’t just move to Western Countries and start operating, you must undergo some processes.
So I believe both of you misunderstood yourselves

I am a physiotherapist, I got a job in UK directly from Nigeria in 2022 and I moved there and I work with NHS, I only applied for a license to work as a physiotherapist in UK. That is all I did.

I have met so many doctors that studied in Nigeria, working as doctors here, they didn’t have to go to any more school, they just wrote the licensing exams to practice which is standard.

I have countless number of nurses who got job directly from Nigeria.
