I schooled abroad after Nigeria university degree. Engineering skill changes with time. Engineers go back to school. My friend who is a doctor in the United state of America went back to school in the usa. And he did residency again in the usa. He also wrote is licensing examination

I hope I try to explain this as much understandable as I can for you.

You see all those doctors here in Nigeria right, they are not doctors when the relocate abroad. They get jobs as home care aid to nursing sick people. That is a different occupation far far from practicing as a doctor in America or Canada or UK.
Infact you can as well apply to be a home care assistant as well with your university degree from Nigeria which is considered a normal equivalent to diploma here. You just have to pass the nursing exam which I know a 200level university student from Nigeria can read the Q&A and pass as well.
What you do is simply take care of old people or mentally unstable people and make sure they don't poop on their self or when they do you change them and also make sure they take their meds regularly and also monitor them so they don't harm their self.
Anybody can do that job infact that is equivalent to a factory job if you don't know only this time you be more careful because you handling a human life and can be arrested and you go to jail if you flop because it is stated there in your agreement you sign before you start working.

If you want to be a doctor in these countries, you have to apply for a medical or a nursing program/ degree where you undergo the process from the begining according to the countries teaching regulations and standards, pass the necessary exams, go for your training practice, write another exam if you fail you have to retake it which happens very often because I have friends who it has happened to. Then luckily you pass them you go under the process to be a certified nurse or doctor depending on the field you choose.

That's not correct. Loads of diffrence in what I said and what he said. If you study medicine in USA or any other countries of the world, and you want to practice in Nigeria, you will need to pass Nigeria's Medical council professional exams..Does that mean USA certificate is not trusted

Before you can say a certificate is not recognized, it will not even qualify you to be able to sit for those exams. The fact you can use your BSc certificate to get MSc and PhD positions, and also get remote jobs while in Nigeria means they are well recognised.

So, having to write a professional exams before starting a professional job does not mean the certificate is not trusted..it is just a global practice.

U don't understand global practices, what is recognized and what is required are 2 different things. Bsc is required globally for certain positions in application, the question of where/country it is obtained is a different matter to different profession and employers !!

You can't be privy to the standards and procedures applied to candidates from Harvard and MIT when they apply cross border, compared to LASU graduates.

Yes, exams and registration may apply because of legal and ethical reasons but definitely not across board for 3rd world countries.

The employer simply adopt the Reg & Lic across board for ease of doing business not for accreditation and recognition of 1st tier inst from 1st world countries.

The nig cert is not recognized in the UK or states as credentials to work or practice, it is accepted as a requisite for employment into certain cadres of work.

And there is a difference btw employment ad practice..... U can be an engineer in the US and setup an auto workshop in Nigeria based on your qualifications and exp, can u take ur M. Eng. from YABATECH to set up shop in US?

Sometimes, not getting the right info is out problems. Your Nigeria degree could build you a strong basis to land a good job abroad.

There is something called professional base point. Your degree scores a point, experience after school and if you have done a professional exam to proof your worth is among.

Why we make wrong assertion is because we only stopped at degrees here, we hardly see people acquiring more professional certs to make you stand tall like others from the world.

Imagine an Aussie from the same background as you buying for the same abroad job in US. Do you stand to beat such arms down?

Your degree, professional qualifications and certification and experience in the relevant field are all they will use to judge both of you not your country.

In your post you asserted that Nigerian certs are not acknowledged abroad. That doctors here work as care providers in nursing home. And all that.

Now, this is not true, boss.

Nigerian medical certificates are FULLY ACKNOWLEDGED abroad. The exams them dey write no be for extra university schooling or something...na to ensure they meet the minimum requirements to practice there are an FOG.
