Congratulations and thanks!

thelma76:
I had my appointment on the 11th and got a “Ready for collection” SMS and email today. That’s their typical timeline but I was scared because this is peak season and I anticipated a delay. But I got the visa…..it’s my 4th Schengen visa though, and 3rd France visa. They gave me 6months multiple entry with 90days stay

So I guess you can only tell when you go pickup. Once there’s no paper in your envelope, it’s likely approved.

Germany appointment dates are released at midnight between 11:30 - 12midnight.
And don’t expect to get a slot for same week except someone cancels.
Good luck.
thank you very much. I have been trying for weeks now but no luck yet, hopefully soon. Thanks again

My application with Belgium took 6 weeks. I and my wife got a month visa. Picked up my passport today
Congrats. Can you actually spend the full 1 month back packing through Europe or you’re only allowed 10 days?

A month visa but 10 days allowed stay. We intend spending 7 days anyways. My wife was a first timer but I have uk, USA and Canada visas

I plan on doing about three or four Schengen countries trips in 2025 (ie within a year), spending a max of 14 days each time. I applied for 1 year multiple visa, is the application supposed to fall under long-stay visa or short-stay visa?

This is so strange. Perhaps there was something else amiss with the application.

I’ve had about 3 or 4 Schengen visas now. The first one I used was Portugal-issued, I used it and in fact Rome was my first point of entry (there’s no direct flight to Lisbon and this was the shortest route). I was worried I wouldn’t get it the second time (since I wasn’t stamped in by Portugal authorities at all)

This time it was tourist and I used only my statement, I got it from France. Life happened and I didn’t use it because the trip I booked was linked to a London trip and I never got the visa for that so had to cancel it all.

I applied again, I was scared I wouldn’t get it because I didn’t use my first French-issued visa, but I got it (bank balance a little over 2m). I’ve just applied for another one (I even dared to ask for a longer validity in my cover letter) so let’s see how this comes out. Summary is I’m not sure they can deny a visa just because you didn’t use a previous visa but then again, I recall explaining in my cover letter why I didn’t use that visa though.

I don’t think a country should penalize you for not using a tourist visa. The visa fees have been taken from you and if they reject you, it’s non-refundable. In that same vein, you should be allowed to exercise your right to use the visa or not.

Select Visitor/Tourism Visa

Someone that selected long stay was turned back and had to forfeit appointment date and appointment payment.

Hello house,

I just checked TLS France appointment for Abuja and the earliest date I can see is 10/3/2025. This is way too far! Is this the normal gap (2-3 months) between filling the application online and booking? Should I try Lagos? Is that usually quicker?

Na wa 😮

Is it usually like this ? Or could it be because of Xmas/Holiday period ? I was expecting 2 weeks wait max. Last Schengen France I did in 2023 was faster.

Please aside the €90 for the application fee. How much does it cost to book TLS appointment for france? Please how much is it to book standard/normal appointment on TLS website for france

Hello @thelma76
Thank you for your detailed response. Perhaps I've overlooked something.
Could an inactive Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) company registration status lead to a refusal of the France visa?
It’s possible. I know if it’s uk, just consider it denied on submission, they literally quoted that on my refusal letter about my employers CAC status then
Guessing your bank statement was in order? You should include a cover letter sharing your itinerary and explaining why you didn’t use the other visa
You had your hotel and flight booking too right?

Paid 168k at the centre (inclusive of passport photograph though) for visa fees standard appointment.
I think you pay online to book as well ahead of the appointment…can’t remember but it was probably about 50k

Earliest date in Lagos is Feb 13th.
It depends on the traveler profile though
I can bet a frequent traveler would be able to book an appointment asap
I saw appointment dates for the same week when I checked early December
Also, categories matter…if it’s tourism, or business or any other category, you may see earlier slots depending on your profile and visa type

But I'm just curious, is this likely to change? Like is there a possibility that January can show maybe by next week?

Right now it’s showing 13/3/25 at 8:30 only. Are you seeing the same thing ?

Really, is this for a short stay/tourist purpose or something else?

Yes short stay/tourist (<90 days) from Abuja. Not first time traveller. I’m wondering if this is normal or I made a mistake or something.

This is a challenging situation, and I hope that anyone who with any relevant information will share their insights with us here.

I just saw this tweet.

As of end of November 2024, the earliest appointment dates for Lagos and Abuja were both January 2025 (less than 2 months). So it seems the wait time is now getting worse (2-3 months)
