The houses/rent are overpriced and aside the socalled highbrow areas of Lagos, then maybe some places in the mainland like Ilupeju,Yaba,Onipanu, Ogba, Egbeda, Festac and where again, houses in other places are very horrible looking with ridiculous rent fee


The parlour, kitchen and bathroom spacing in most of the houses would make you wonder if they didnt include them in the initial house plan...very very small


No even talk about agent and agreement fee.

Why compare cost of rent alone? You should also compare the average income in Ivory Coast. Minimum wage in ordinary Ivory Coast is over 185k in Naira (75k CFA), that's almost triple the current average minimum wage of 70k in Nigeria.

If 750k is too much for Nigerians, doesn't that indicate that people earn too low in the country? 750k is the average annual income of a minimum wage earner in Nigeria based on the new salary structure which was just implemented a few months ago. So if you earn minimum wage, it's like saving up half of your salary for 2 years before you can rent this dilapidated apartment.

I was hospitalised whilst looking for a house in Lagos. (High blood pressure + typhoid) I don't miss those days.

Imagine paying tp from ibafo --- Sangotedo Ajah.

After pleading with the agent not to show me rubbish.

Uncle agent showed me an apartment close to a drainage.

Single window in the bedroom (no cross ventilation)

This was back in 2022....and had the audacity to tell me #600k. I swore for him.

Till I eventually got a cubicle apartment (studio apartment) in Abijo GRA... Bike fair when rain falls from the house to the bus stop (1000 naira)😁

See, if you say Lagos is inexpensive compared to Abidjan, I am not doubting it, after all, there are still many poor areas in Lagos where you can rent apartments for less than 500k. I commented because it was making it seem like Lagos residents are enjoying, simply because houses are more affordable compared to Abidjan, whereas they earn higher...

There are also some places in this Lagos that Abidjan residents cannot afford. Lekki Phase 1, Ikoyi, Banana, those are no-go areas for most Ivorians too, unless they are rich. So when we compare, let's get it right.

Ayobo/Cele/Lafenwa/Aiyetoro, come to any of these areas, you'll see very nice and spacious miniflats, some with dining space sef for 250k, total package of 400/450... Check for areas using Ikeja light and you're guaranteed about 15-20hrs light per day

Downside: Roads and bridges are flooded during heavy rains

Guys, let me tell you something. I am a very inquisitive being. Not just inquisitive but highly intuitive. I can sense and foresee things right from my imaginations and they are real and happens as I see them.

Let me tell you something you don't know. Where you stay has great influence on your progress as a person. So, be mindful of where you stay. There are places you pack into and you will remain stagnant for life not until you pack out of that place.

These places are mostly associated with all those dirty ghetto places where nothing seems to be going on for the people living in that region. And all the evil people mostly stay in all those places.

Please, in everything you do, please work hard to be able to afford a good place to stay. Stay around people that things are going pretty well for and progressing in life.

Avoid all those dirty ghetto areas of face me and face you places. Most of those places are not good spiritually speaking. They will hinder you and make your life miserable.

You won't understand. But just pick something from what I just said. That is if you are looking for a house, make sure you find a better place where the people living around are at least averagely doing pretty well. If you want to progress in your life as a young man who is working hard to survive, avoid all those dilapidated and dirty ghetto areas. They are the breeding grounds for stagnation, evils, setbacks and the like.

Abidjan is a beautiful, well planned city. Only Abuja comes close in Nigeria. Even their standard of living is way better than Nigeria. They have light, water, infrastructure etc..

You'd spend more to rent a Self-con in Lagos than you'll ever spend to get a 2bedroom flat in Ibadan or a mini flat in Ogun


For most remote workers that are of SW origin, a large percentage of them prefer IB or Ogun to Lag. The obsession to live in Lagos isnt there because from an economic POV, you're spending more on things of same comparative value, especially if you are in an area with 33kva constant power supply. So, Why Lagos ?

If I am to live in any place in Nigeria to raise a family peacefully, I will rather stay in Uyo or Calabar.

Akwa Ibom and Cross River.

Lagos is too jam-packed. Portharcourt is even better for a single guy than Lagos. The only thing in Lagos is that all the celebrities reside there and there are more opportunities.

But with family and for those that work from home, I will peacefully choose Uyo, then Calabar comes second on my list.
