Doctor Who Relocated to UK Considers Returning to Nigeria, Shares Struggles With Job-hunting

-A female doctor, Ogechi Sylvia Eze, who relocated to the United Kingdom, shared how she struggled with job-hunting.

-She also said she considered returning to Nigeria to farm, adding that she stayed four months abroad without a job.

-Many who came across the post encouraged the lady as she spoke about the bills she had to pay

A Nigerian doctor in the United Kingdom, Ogechi Sylvia Eze, shared how she considered returning to the country. While responding to a post on social media, the woman said she was first in a queue for Nigerians who wanted to return to the country.

In a tweet by @sopranodoctor, the woman said she stayed four months without getting a job. She also said she had many bills and taxes piling up, adding that she may return to Nigeria and become a farmer.

Ogechi said: “I’m first in the Queue… I’ll go back and farm. 4 months no job. I’ve travelled the length and breath of this land job hunting. Currently in a location 6 hrs from home, will spend my Christmas and new year here, as I need to pay off my debts, and bills, and my income tax (which is different from Balablu for Locum GPs like me).

“The last tax bill my accountant gave me was in the tens of thousands of pounds… I did not sleep for a week. That day I closed my company and went back to PAYE. Today I’m living one day at a time but grateful for the Grace to enjoy each day, savings or not. E choke oooo.”

sad Humn! What would have made a medical doctor to have this kind of feeling? Life no longer comfortable in the UK? Not all that glitters is always gold o. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

JAPA should not have been a way of life but we can take vacations to these developed nations and come back. This is because social/family ties have been distorted(I know a family where a mother is working abroad, while the father and two kids are in Nigeria), SAPA has driven most of us nuts.

The useless and irredeemable cursed leadership back home have not helped matters. So what is the way out? Leave the nation for these rogue and criminal politicians?

@Racoon, don't over flog this issue, you should realise Nigerians in particular this crop of generation are one way traffic. they will come for you, of which they are already doing.

we can't continue to leave these monsters in power, the only strength the political class has is the weakness of the citizens (rather than come together against the oppressors, Nigerians would rather fight each other to hail their oppressors).

The beginning is not always rosy but at the end she'll have cause to smile. Maybe she needs to re-strategize or contact better job agencies.

I personally would not encourage her to return home since home is not better in any way, and considering how much she has spent to get there, but if she's absolutely convinced that's the best option for her then she should follow through.

I saw where she added income tax to the list of her debt profile. Is it possible for a person to be charged for income tax even when it's obvious that you're yet to secure a job?

I keep telling people that the UK is overcrowded. I know dozens of people who rushed there and are currently doing their second masters because they couldn't secure a job.

Nigerian land area is bigger than the UK. And the UK has people from all over the world trooping there for greener pastures. You can imagine how crammed up it's going to be.

Many of our nurses over there are doing nurse assistant but since everyone back home, has known they have relocated, they have no option than to continue their health-care services instead of proper nursing.

No thanks to exchange rate that also favours them.

It is not everything you read online that you should believe. This is one of them… believe this, be complacent, and remain poor for the rest of your life.

Story. Only you talk about closing your company...the same you still looking for a job for over 4 months and you claim to be a doctor. I just feel like this lady is just catching cruise. Tell her to come and start the farm work in Nigeria now....you won't hear from her again. Don't believe everything you read online.

Make una dey play. Good roads, quality food, quality education, quality healthcare, security of life and property. All these you want to abandon for a country without anything to offer.

Sister, please know that Nigeria has gone 10x worse than you left it. Come back at your own peril.

99 out of every 100 Nigerian currently living in this country wish to leave, it's that bad.

She's a fvcking lazy, let her return. All the years she was here before going she didn't do farming, it's now she wants to do farming. You guys should keep deceiving yourselves. I know a doctor who went there while he's awaiting certification he's working as an ambulance personnel and earns 3k month. She's lazy and think work will just Fall on her lap.

In all, if you commit your plans to God, he will bless you even if you are in the forest farming.

Madam, stay where you are. You have something many people pray to have. You want to come back and start farming in a country where herdsmen will destroy your crops and butcher you for complaining. 80% of the crimes that take place in Nigeria go unnoticed (the media doesn't share it).

And guess where she will be returning to? Yorubaland

Believe that farm story at your own peril

God bless the leaders of Yorubaland for their foresight and for making Lagos a world class city since Tinubu started the repositioning in 1999 following decades of neglect

Now she can board a metro, work in a Free Trade Zone that has a refinery, deep sea port and hundreds of other factories

Now she can live in Eko Atlantic which was reclaimed from the sea because Jagaban conceived a better way of taming the Atlantic instead of pouring sand worth billions every year

God bless Yorubaland
