It really depends on what you're looking for. I’ve done some traveling in Schengen countries, and it’s an amazing way to experience different cultures and places. But, I’ve also looked into things like cocoa farming, and I think it has a lot of potential if you're interested in agriculture or want to invest in something more long-term. Cocoa farming could be a good move if you're after steady growth and don't mind being hands-on. I’d say if you’re after a new adventure and experiences, travel might be the way to go, but if you're more focused on building something for the future, cocoa farming could be a solid choice.

It depends on those managing it.

haha so where are your millions in Nigeria. IAM sure you're still in your parents basement. Foolish dreamer.
I hope we have a nice discussion devoid of insult or hate speech
I love farming and my parents think otherwise though my father is a farmer but not that consistent.
They made sure we had the best of education while hoping for a white collar job... the average naija parent mentality even though I didn't buy into their school of thought
Long story short I decided to leave the family path and I'm happy after 4 years my parents who never believed me are fascinated at what my 2 plot of land could pull in for meevery year

Cocoa farming is good. But the problem associated are many . There is astronomical rise in price this year, but it is not like that before this is as a result in exchange rate of ₦1600\ $.
To get good and fertile land is another factor, there is no virgin forest again the forest reserves have been taken over by government unless you acquire land by inheritance.
If you get land ,you will plant and nurse for minimum of 2years before you start harvesting ,it must be hybrid called BOLA IGE after the agriculture Commissioner during Awolowo regime
Cost of clearing and farm maintainance is another factor.
Cocoa is yeilding but it is long time investment..
Farmers face problem of thieves, those going to harvest the fruit in the farm and and after harvest

How can I get cocoa to plant ?
richiemcgold:
OP, if the cocoa plantation is a large farm, abeg hold on to it and forget about traveling out.

I bought a piece of land in Akure 2 years ago (2 & half plots), there were 3 cocoa trees on that land but the trees were not in good condition. I almost fell the trees down but someone advised me not to do it. He recommended a man who came to tend the trees for me and apply necessary chemicals. Cutting the long story short, those 3 cocoa trees have fetched me more than N400k. That's almost half of the amount I bought the land. Just 3 cocoa trees o.

.. now I have decided not to build anything on the land for now. I want to plant as many cocoa tress as possible on it. That's one of my targets in 2025. The man said I can easily get between 600-800 kilos annually on that land. A kilo of cocoa is presently N13,000

plant moderately on the small land otherwise you may not be having bountiful harvest
I'm making arrangements for 50 seedlings

My consultant has also taken the soil sample for test. The soil is good for cocoa.

Why are you asking absolute strangers to make life decisions for you? Decide what you want to achieve in life and then move on from there. Simple.

How fertile is the land you want to use for the cocoa farming.
My advise is that you can travel out and still be running the cocoa farm.
He should stay in Nigeria and build his farm. He can easily find investors abroad if he is honest and disciplined.

SOCIALISM: You have two cows, and you give one to your neighbor.

COMMUNISM: You have two cows, the government takes both and gives you milk.

FASCISM: You have two cows, the government takes both and sells you milk.

NAZISM: You have two cows, the government takes them and kills you.

CAPITALISM: You have two cows, you sell one and buy a male. You multiply your cows and there is economic growth. You sell them, you retire and you live on your profits.

MODERN CAPITALISM: You have two cows, you sell one and buy a male. You multiply your cows and you buy those of your neighbors. The latter become your shepherds, you pay them in monkey currencies and they die poor.

AMERICAN SOCIETY: You have two cows, you sell one and you have to make the other one to produce milk like 4 cows. By dint of producing beyond her capacity, she dies. You take a consultant to understand this death.

FRENCH SOCIETY: You have two cows, you go on strike because you want a third.

GERMAN SOCIETY: You have two cows, you modify them so that they live 100 years, eat once a month and treat themselves.

CHINESE SOCIETY: You have two cows, you sell milk to your compatriots and you produce plastic milk to export to the rest of the world.

AFRICAN SOCIETY: You have two cows, you eat them all the same day and you dream that donors or the international community give you others. You go to a church and hope for miracle cattle. You fast 40 days and 40 nights without eating or drinking so that the cows will fall from Heaven.

At last You die in extreme poverty.

Mind set is paramount.
This is very deep 😎

Sir the three cocoa trees cannot bring that figure no need to over exaggerate thing. I am also a farmer. An average weight of a dried bean is 1.5grams and a pod hovers around 35 to 42 wet beans we can do the math from there. No doubt cocoa farming is the best when trying to sort out one's future as per investment, yet caution must be taken when churning out figures like this so as to enable whosoever wishes to venture into it to have a true picture of what it's all about

To travel out of naija is pain to me
There are endless opportunities in the Nigeria
Agriculture is 90% untapped in this country, with places I can go and get some mineral resources for free and sell or even act as middle man
Leave and become a slave in another man's country
Only my flight ticket/visa to those Western world can get me 100 million naira in 14 months with just the simplest sugarcane farming
Are you saying 5 to 10 million naira investment in sugarcane farming can yield up to100 million naira in 14 months?
