The Ogun State Police Command on Monday confirmed the discovery of a 35-year-old man, Mukaila Lasisi, who was found dead in a compound on Israel Agbalade Street, Asero, Abeokuta, the state capital.

PUNCH Metro gathered from the command that Lasisi was found lying unconscious in the compound by a security guard, identified only as Amusan, at about 6:45 pm on Sunday.

The command’s spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police Omolola Odutola, stated that it remained unclear how the body ended up in the compound where a security guard resided, noting that preliminary investigations indicated no signs of foul play.

Odutola recounted, “On December 29, 2024, at about 10:00 PM, one Amusan, a resident of No. 1 Israel Agbalade Street, Asero, Abeokuta, reported to the Obantoko Division Police Station that he had discovered an unconscious body in his compound, where the security guard resides. Amusan stated that he found the victim at approximately 6:45 PM and promptly went to the station to report the incident.”

Odutola explained that upon receiving the report, the surveillance team and the Papa Golf team quickly responded and proceeded to the scene. The victim was immediately taken to the State Hospital in Ijaye, Abeokuta, where the attending doctor confirmed his death. No visible signs of violence were observed on the body.

“Preliminary investigations identified the deceased as Makaila Lasisi, approximately 35 years old. His father later confirmed his identity. The body was then transferred to the State Hospital Mortuary in Abeokuta for preservation and further medical examination.”

Odutola told our correspondent that detectives were investigating the cause of death, and further updates would be provided as the investigation progressed.

PUNCH Metro reported a similar incident on December 20, 2024, when a woman named Serifatu Disu, who had reportedly left her husband’s house, was found dead in the apartment of her friend, Ogunjobi.

The police stated that she had visited Ogunjobi, who was subsequently detained, at his apartment in Fatima Castle, Konigba, in the Ago-Iwoye area of the state.

I’m pretty sure they are both not aware of this because the NPF only concern is money….

While the doctors don’t care because they are more concerned about how much they will make from their private hospitals..

1. An autopsy can be done by a pathologist. A doctor in a private clinic is not a pathologist. Your average doctor can certify death..while a pathologist..a doctor who has gotten the postgrad qualifications in pathology...can determine all the answers to your qiestions

2. The police did say...preliminary findings...which means more investigations need to be done.

3. Also, it can take some weeks for a full autopsy to be done (in the USA, for example, that is because things like tox tests needeth to be done
