Aura for aura.

Obasanjo is too egocentric.

Don’t mind Obasanjo.

He will never accept the invitation.

His arrogance is his undoing.

It is not all about inviting Obassanjo to confirm the functionality of the refinery. Let the price of litre drop to N500 or below to prove that the refineries are working. The reason they gave to justify the hike in the pump price was landing cost/the exchange rate. The price for a liter should drop significantly now that the fuel are no longer been imported.

Did it work during Buhari's regime?
No is the answer.
This is funny.
I supposed this is the reason Buhari rushed to commission Dangote's refinery because
someone else may claim the credit even though they never contributed.

Is it working now during Tinubu's govt?
Yes is the answer.
That is Tinubu's legacy.
It is not about working or not working.
It is about funding and sometimes conception.
I credited Buhari because he spent the most money on it even though he didn't start it.
What exactly did Tinubu do to revive the refineries since being sworn in?

Who started telecom journey in Nigeria, who took credit for it being operational?
There is no "telecom journey". That is too broad.
There was landline(NITEL and predecessor) and there is GSM.
Everybody knows who initiated the opening up of Nigeria to GSM technology.
No contest here.
Only kids will credit OBJ with telecoms. Adults will talk about GSM.

Suppose Tinubu couldn't complete Lagos-Calabar highway for whatever reason, then someone after few months in office
now commission it. Does it make any sense to credit such office holder with a project in which
their contribution is little to nothing?

NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Mr. Olufemi Soneye is firing on all cylinders lately! Impressive

They need to believe first that it's working.

I think obj was sincerely trying to defend his decision...

To sell the refinery. Which was based on the expert advice he had at the time.

Yaradua should be commended though for reversal of that decision. (I think he reversed because he felt they were sold too cheap and not necessarily because it was a bad decision)

Even though by now it's likely; if obj's plan had worked then Nigeria would have started benefitting from the working of the refineries a long time ago. And so much money which might have been used for other things might not have been embelzed!
Just the way Nigeria has benefited from all the privated government assets. Where is NITEL today? Let's start with this.

The "working" refineries are Buhari's legacy and not Tinubu.
So, I don't see how Awolowo and MKO comes into the picture.
The IBB bridge in Lagos was started by obj in 1976 but was completed by babangida but who remembers started it.....tinubu could have easily cancelled the contract to issue another one just as yar adua and GEJ did with obj's NIPP.

He could but he didn't.
He who funds a project, owns it.
Merely being in office when it was completed doesn't confer the legacy on Tinubu.
If he were to sign and fund a contract for Ajaokuta steel revival, it won't matter whether it was completed during his term
in office.

Take the coastal highway, supposed it was mostly funded and 70% completed before someone else takes office,
does it make sense crediting such a person with a project they didn't meaningfully contribute to?
To me, it is Tinubu's regardless of who is in office when completed.

Inviting former President Obasanjo to tour the Port Harcourt Refinery sends a clear message about NNPCL commitment to transparency and progress. It’s a constructive way to address skepticism while demonstrating the efforts being made to revitalize Nigeria’s refineries.
they should as well invite obi too

What you don't understand seem to be more than what you understand in governance in relation to Nigeria.

It is not only Buhari that spent on the refineries without a tangible result.
Previous govts have spent billions too.
You know why it didn't work?
Corruption of course with the president looking the other way or even complicit.
They always start projects to embezzle the billions voted for them.

Tinubu is a little more cerebral and serious to leave a positive legacy than allow his legacy project undone.

He will do it in phases and commission the different phases.
To my mind,Tinubu will find a way to finish the project in his 8 years, probably finish it at the end of his 7th year.

You are simply ignorant.
It is not a template.
It has nothing to do subsidy removal.
Buhari funded the contract.

He didn't achieve anything.
He is merely the man in office when the contract was concluded.
He contributed nothing to the refinery's revival.

These guys are really scamming Nigerians. Can they run the refinery profitably? How long before the next expensive "turn around maintenance "? More than 2 billion dollars have been spent on the refineries since 2009,money that could have been spent on health, education etc
The earlier Nigerians understand that socialism doesn't work, especially in a country as corrupt as ours, the better things will become.

Tinubu's legacy for sure. There's no past president that hasn't spent billions of dollars on repairs of the refineries but none worked till all of them left office. As a matter of fact, Mele Kyari promised he would make the refineries work before Buhari leaves office in May but he failed yet again. If Tinubu had not put in the pressure & gave all the supports needed, the refineries would have been same ol same.
