What is the injustice in sentencing an armed robber?

It is a shame that the country is celebrating a crook, not even a repentant one.
His gang member is still in jail because he was a full adult at the time.

Did you read other crime he's convicted of, or you just ran to town with what the media told you?

Pesin carry cutlass to do armed robbery, to kill people and take away their valuables, but people saying he stole fowl.

What if the people he robbed don die or they are your own family members.

This is why criminals get away with crimes in Nigeria..
There was no proof that he committed any of the crime whether stealing fowl or robbery. Other gang confirmed that he wasn't part of them

Stealing or robbery? Why is it so hard to report this story correctly? If you guys believe robbery shouldn't carry a capital punishment that's fine. Just don't lie about the nature of the crime.
.. what about those politicians that have looted and embezzled billions of naira..their presecution or punishment does not carry a capital punishment .. there are even many of them walking freely enjoying their loot and looted money.. police, EFCC and court are even afraid of presecuting them...

let me tell you something before any judge will give judgment he or she will ask the person question what do you have to tell this court and the judgment will be all about what he has tell the police and what it is file before the court so on the day of the judgment he still has power to tell the court maybe it is lie or not

Meanwhile, stealing alone does not attract capital punishment but stealing with arms is what attracts capital punishment. He was sentenced to death because they claimed he was armed to rob.
He was convicted of robbery because the prosecution proved he was armed in a court of law. They presented the weapon to the judge in court. You guys don't believe anything unless it was filmed in 4k and DNA evidence is left on scene.

Yeah, stealing doesn't carry capital punishment. Do you believe stealing should also carry a capital punishment? Or do you believe robbery shouldn't be a capital punishmen? tI don't believe robbery should carry a capital punishment stiff jail sentences are enough.

So what are you saying is there's no innocent persons in prison, that everyone the judge sentenced were all guilty. Your politicians are there stealing billions meant for the lively hood of many which they perish because of lack of amenities. It's someone who stole chicken that should be sentenced to death abi? I hail you o..

Then how come no media outlet reported it exactly like that ever since this story of governor pardoning him came up?
Even the government house press unit are reporting the same thing that he was sentenced to death for stealing a fowl.
So you people with contrary information on the matter shouldn't blame us for believing the government and the boy's side of the story cos we don't have this contrary view from any of the reputable media houses.

The governor knows you guys are very emotional and sentimental, therefore riding on the advantage of the unfortunate situation.

Do you believe an armed robber armed will go and steal a fowl and not rob the owners of the house. He will just stroll to the backyard and go and pick just one fowl. Please think it. We are not talking of a robber with just a bowl and a cutlass but an assorted riffle. Have you read the account of his claimed robbery. They said, there is a policeman living the said house, that he left all the houses including the policeman house and went straight to the backyard to go and rob birds and took one fowl, just a fowl. Then, you ask, how many birds did he killed and how many fowl did he steal after shooting the birds?
The account doesn't make a pint of sense to anyone that have been conversant with robbery cases in Nigeria.
What I know is this, Nigeria just happened to the guy and I do believe he must have learnt his lesson and be conscious of where he goes to.

Let me give you the one that happened to me over 20 years ago before I finished University. There was this girl I like. I went to her house to ask of her and her parent told me she was in school. I went straight to her school and straight to her class without knowing they were doing WAEC. The school is just a stone's throw to my house, to let you know how familiar I was with the school and virtually all the teachers there.
Lo and behold, their vice principal well known to me and my family started shouting at me, before I knew anything, he held me and started dragging me and before I could say jack, I was taken to police station. When the man got to police station, he told the policeman at the station that I came to do exam malpractice. My brother, my brain turned upside down and I was dejected. My brother, what saved me in the hands of the police custody was the influence of my mum in the town.

My brother, never pray that Nigeria happen to you, else you regret being a Nigerian.

Where's your evidence of the murder?

Imagine a woman accuses you of rape when it was actually a consensual sex with a dominant side. Just one example.

Judge not and you shall not be judged.

The court that gave death sentence to someone who stole fowl, must be a sharia court.

You are right sha. But apart from what you said, the case of the boy, has many bend(k-leg) inside it. The story is not straight and lack deep insight about what really took place from when he went to stole either with cutlass or not to when he was arrested, put in jail/cell, going to court, etc. The story was not worth it. If na you be governor, you will do the same thing adeleke did. Is it you(the governor), they will use as a scapegoat by saying you sign for someone to be executed for stealing fowl plus for matter wey no get concrete evidence!
What's not straightforward about the case? He went with cutlass and his gang to rob people and take away their valuables, he was arrested and witnesses and the people he robbed testified against him.

This is the problem with Nigerians, they go out of their way to defend and make excuses for looters, criminals and armed robbers.

I pray Nigeria should not happen to you, you would know how people can quickly frame you up in a twinkle of an eye.

The account says it was a rifle he carried and not cutlass as you claimed. You then ask, how would a supposed armed robber go and rob and the only thing he could steal was a fowl with his gun. He didn't enter any house to ask for their belonging or cash but went straight to the backyard to steal only fowl. My brother, Nigeria don happen to the guy and I pray Nigeria no happen to you too, by then, you will have a different words to speak.

Only an hungry robber go to steal only one fowl with gun and not a supposedly robber as claimed.

It almost happened to me over 20 years ago but God saved me.
