Hi house - please I have a question. I want to sponsor a sibling's masters from back home. The plan for POF is to send the money to a GBP account in their name in Nigeria. My question is - which Nigerian bank would be super easy to send the money back to me in the UK after visa has been processed? I'm thinking of standard chartered, but I want to hear from those who have real experiences, transferring GBP from Nigerian dom accounts to the UK. |

Soraco57:https://www.gov.uk/health-care-worker-visa/your-partner-and-children Sorry mate. There will be a lot of reading involved. Laws change all the time. I wouldn't trust hearsay on anything about immigration. Always check this site first for the most up-to-date information. |

lavida001:But this is a slur,now...why call people that? And why stereotype people ? You wouldn't be happy reading this about Nigerians in an Indian forum now, would you? I know some lovely Indian people and we get along like a house on fire. Try some Indian friends. You ll be amazed. |

missjekyll:A doctor shouldn't be rude ![]() It's still a good idea to cross check with a (knowledgeable) GP in the case where one has a diagnosis of a chronic condition as there are several conditions that qualify for medical exemption even when not clearly stated. |

I just thought I should mention that my reason for asking the original question about access to public funds was so that when the time for my visa renewal comes up I won't be deemed to have broken any of the conditions I was given initially. Zahra29: |

Zahra29:The op asked if getting regular prescriptions (in this case for diabetic meds) would class as public funds for someone on a visa which I responded to. Thats different from asking if one is eligible to have free prescriptions under the nhs (for which they'd need to meet specific criteria except they're in certain parts). The only overlap here is that the are diabetic on meds which has a crossover between the two. i.e its a disease which if treated with medications would by itself qualify them for free scripts. The full gamut of nhs services is being able to access routine care and get your regular prescriptions signed off just like everyone else. There would still be set criteria for certain aspects of care/treatment. If I needed a regular script, I'd pay the regular nhs fee for it - not private. |

Kenn55:Free Indians matter. We're in thesame hustle. Alot of countries have bigots pointing fingers at them. Trump sold his story to a wider narrative this time and even got some minority voters behind him or made them less enthusiastic to vote for the dems. It's so believable to point at an immigrant and make everyday folks believe they're the reason for wider struggles. Its a time-tested tactic. Well lets hope Trump doesn't do a BJo on them. His properties need more of the 0.1% engineers to run them afterall |

Tax the rich. When people get stratospherically wealthy, they unfailingly become villains. Look at the sort of unhinged person the US has handed power to. They created this monster and all of us are suffering for it. |

jedisco:Elon is just a manipulator taking advantage of far-right ideologies to bully his way into political influence. When he's done he will start shouting about the shortage of engineers and skilled workers to advance his business interests. Just pity those who see him as their savior to advance their desire to chase all those they don't like or want out of their country and right now many of them are confused and can't just understand what the hell is going on ![]() |

Goke7:I think you're reading too much into Elon's crazy behaviour. Everyone, including Musk himself, knows that Musk is a loose cannon. Tomorrow he'll be off attacking another senior figure and government. I'm quite sure he'll soon fall out with Trump, it's just a matter of time. Beneath the scintillating headlines, Elon's tweets on the contentious issue of the grooming gangs have emboldened the claims of the right that certain ethnic groups are more represented in sexual abuse and other crimes than Brits, and some MPs are urging the government to publish an annual report detailing the nationality, visa and asylum status of every offender convicted, to enable the Home Office toughen up visa and deportation policies for nationalities linked to higher rates of crime in the UK https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/01/05/foreign-national-crime-league-table-sexual-offence-migrants/ |
