Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, says his life is under threat because of his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The former governor of Anambra made the allegation after Felix Morka, national spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said, "Peter Obi has crossed the line so many times and has it coming to him whatever he gets".

During an interview with Arise Television, Morka described Obi as an “irrational being” and slammed his public commentary.

The APC spokesperson labelled Obi’s claims as "ridiculous" and "deceptive," criticising his 8-year tenure as Anambra governor for lacking legacy.

He added that Obi needs to figure out why he lost the 2023 presidential election and should stop being dishonest.

Obi, in his New Year message to Nigerians, criticised Tinubu and expressed concerns over "institutional corruption, mismanagement, poverty, hardship, and an escalating debt profile".

He noted that "corruption has been deeply entrenched in government" while "nepotism has become the norm on Tinubu's watch".

He also demanded "vigorous, positive actions" from the administration to bring succour to Nigerians.

'HAVE I REALLY CROSSED THE LINE?'

Reacting to Morka’s comments on his X page on Monday, Obi asked Nigerians if he has "crossed the line" after receiving threats against his life, family, and associates following his New Year’s message.

The LP chieftain added that he would continue to speak "truthfully," noting that Nigeria is drifting towards authoritarianism and undemocratic practices, which, according to him, must be addressed.

"Have I really crossed the line?" Obi asked.

"I ask the question because my New Year message has now led to threats against my life, my family, and those around me.

“While I have received all sorts of messages, one Mr. Felix Morka has gone further to accuse me of "crossing the line" and has warned that I will face the consequences.

"I find it necessary to share this message again and urge everyone who has not seen it to watch. If I have truly crossed the line, I invite anyone to point it out, as I remain committed to upholding decorum.

"However, I will not be silenced in my resolve to speak truthfully, especially as our nation continues to drift toward undemocratic practices.

"We are increasingly transforming into an authoritarian and repressive regime, where freedom of expression is being systematically suppressed.

We didn't see or hear or read from Peter Obi how exactly his life was threatened.

Without investigating or asking Peter Obi for more details, his followers have gone to town with the claim that his life was threatened.

How was his life and that of his family threatened?

He asked if he "crossed the line". Crossed the line means going beyond what is proper and unacceptable. So what is the issue?

To Peter Obi and his rudderless horde, it is fine that Peter Obi can criticize, but Peter Obi must never be criticized because he is a political saint abive probity. Who exactly is authoritarian here?

The criticism by Peter Obi and his followers represent the truth. But those who criticize Peter Obi have been paid or want to be paid. What level of idiotic thinking is that?

Peter Obi is obviously a sensitive person. He feels the pinch whenever him or his records are scrutinized. If he is so proud of his records, why does he try to deflect?

Peter Obi, you are a public figure. You are quick to stitch needless twitter threads and grant aimless press conferences. Whatever you say will be reviewed and criticized by the public. Everyone is not a follower who follows you blindly and accept everything you say without putting it to the test of scrutiny and intelligence. It comes with the responsibility you took as the acclaimed leader of the opposition. If you can't bear the heat, leave the kitchen.

By the way, Kenneth Okonkwo, one of your former staunch supporters asked you to step aside, because he doesn't believe in you again. We want you to continue to speak to hold the government to account. But do so intelligently. Think things carefully and involve subject-matter experts to guide your submissions so that it would be difficult to attack you. If you can't do it, delegate it. Because you are a micromanager, you feel you can do everything yourself. You can't.

Stop doing things to please a thoughtless mob. Even if you do not become president, give the country quality and intelligent opposition. Finally, develop a thick skin to attacks. The more you prove the attacks are getting to you, the more they shall be deployed to distract you. Be strong. The APC National Publicity Secretary should not be able to rile you up to expose your weaknesses. You also do not need to speak on everything.

That criminal named Felix Morka and the entire APC rogues aren't comfortable anymore as Peter Obi is always scrubbing Thièfnubu bald head on the ground with apt and state of the art criticisms.

In their myopia, going to national TV to issue threats to Peter is their only defense mechanism in a bid to suppress his voice and support. Well, it is dead on arrival.

As for Felix Morka who issued that threat, he should understand that he is well known to the people and he won't escape it when shit hits the fan.
