I dont think so. Considering some of our behaviours that we struggle to understand even after being conscious about it. Those with different disorders didn't choose to be that way |

To some extent, yes. In the bigger picture, No. The world we live in is so intertwined like a web, that the outcome of what we thought we "willed" could be knocked off by the consequence of a previous action on our part or a ripple effect by others. The only free will we have is to decide our next step.... But not the outcome. |

Stephen0mozzy:My own understanding is, there's likely some forces/factors which determine whatever our will/dream/wish If it about having ideas, wishing and dreaming, everyone is supposed to be rich but things don't just work that way |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by Stephen0mozzy: 7:16am On Jan 08, 2025 |
helinues:I don't really subscribe to the idea offsetting responsibility to unseen forces - gods/demons/spirits. When it comes to the wealth - there's a difference between wishing or dreaming for it to be versus having the will to be. To will is to understand and take action - the world runs on certain principles - you can see that even those who don't believe one bit in unseen forces are some of the most successful people in the world. The only unseen forces are CAUSE AND EFFECT" - the world is a market place - people trade - what are you selling? |

There is a level of free will encased in a world where you have little control over causation |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by helinues(op): 8:11am On Jan 08, 2025 |
Stephen0mozzy:The forces/factors which I meant are not religious thinking. Sometimes we make plans about things which to us, nothing can affect it. But that's our thinking as the outcome might be entirely different from our initial plans |

There is. I am exercising my freewill to lie down under the duvet to sleep. Everyone has a freewill. |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by helinues(op): 8:33am On Jan 08, 2025 |
Nnamdipapa:The part you can control on freewill. You are not in fully in control of being sick or being healthy . |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by Nnamdipapa(m): 8:36am On Jan 08, 2025 |
helinues:I am. Reason I eat healthy and have a full home gym. I avoid bread, rice sugar and anything that affects my health positively. I sm firmly in control my friend. Everyone one die don't let anyone scare you with I'll health or death. I might even wake up 3am to go smoke some fresh weed in exercise of my free will. |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by helinues(op): 8:38am On Jan 08, 2025 |
Nnamdipapa:Bro those are just fringes of your free will. There are some part of our brain which makes decision by themselves without even needing conscious part. Those decisions are not free will The decision of using left hand or right hand to carry something is not free will, your subconscious mind made the decisions seconds ago before the conscious decision . Coming from bed, the first leg to take is not free will. You dont make such decisions |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by Nnamdipapa(m): 8:44am On Jan 08, 2025 |
helinues:If there is no free will, then we cannot hold our leaders accountable. There is free will and everyone is accountable for the exercise of such freewills. Decisions to use left or right hand are outside the realms of free will. |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by helinues(op): 8:46am On Jan 08, 2025 |
Nnamdipapa:Hahahah, don't even let us go the government side. Government that are not paying our bills yet collecting tax from us but still want to impose laws on us. Is that free will? Can you smoke and drive even though you are not going to disturb anyone inside your car. Why should then be arrested for smoking inside your car |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by Nnamdipapa(m): 9:15am On Jan 08, 2025 |
helinues:Bris, free will and accountability goes hand in hand. Without a freelancer will. God has no right to judge anyone. Freewill means we are accountable for our actions. The only time we don't have freewill is when we were little and under the will of our parents. As soon as we because adults, we all have freewill except the mentality impaired and possessed 100percent by demons. |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by helinues(op): 9:16am On Jan 08, 2025 |
Nnamdipapa:Are psychopaths also have free will? |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by Nnamdipapa(m): 9:17am On Jan 08, 2025 |
helinues:Yes they do. Reason they get convicted and thrown in jail for their actions. |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by helinues(op): 9:19am On Jan 08, 2025 |
Nnamdipapa:That is currently being revisited as their actions wasn't something they really wished to do |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by Nnamdipapa(m): 9:25am On Jan 08, 2025 |
helinues:Except it can be proved they were insane, they will do the time. Phycopapaty has never been a genuine defence in a crime case before anywhere in the world. Psychopaths are not insane people. |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by helinues(op): 9:27am On Jan 08, 2025 |
Nnamdipapa:Then you need to stay updated. Even Schizophrenia disorder is one one of the crimes being reconsidered. |

| Re: Is There Free Will? by Dtruthspeaker: 7:53pm On Jan 08, 2025 |
helinues:Free will is not the same as execution. We all will to fly and be bullet proof but we do not have the ability |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by Dtruthspeaker: 7:57pm On Jan 08, 2025 |
helinues:The free will is in the overall decision to walk or use your hands to do your will. |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by helinues(op): 8:05pm On Jan 08, 2025 |
Dtruthspeaker:Someone who was born with Dementia can never be regarded as someone with free will as the person is not the one in control of the thoughts |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by Hehehehehe: 10:22pm On Jan 08, 2025 |

| Re: Is There Free Will? by Dtruthspeaker: 6:18am On Jan 09, 2025 |
helinues:Now you are moving post to extremities. Even someone with dementia still has free will to eat a certain type of food in rejection of another etc |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by helinues(op): 6:20am On Jan 09, 2025 |
Dtruthspeaker:Foods? So the person was born to eat only food? Not making any contributions to the earth, universe ? |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by Dtruthspeaker: 6:22am On Jan 09, 2025 |
helinues:You knew I was making an example. Here is another one. He can choose one teacher in rejection of another. He can choose a rag doll over optimus prime transformer toy. He can choose maths over learning history |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by helinues(op): 6:26am On Jan 09, 2025 |
Dtruthspeaker:Why is the person not having full potentials free will like others. All these your examples are not even addressing the topic |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by Dtruthspeaker: 6:41am On Jan 09, 2025 |
helinues:Free will is free will whether you have 2 legs or lame. Which is why I said "Free will is not the same as execution You are thinking because you have will, it must be done. And hey, I will fuel to be N87 per litre and those days when $100 was N17000k. But, Tinubu no gree and he says that I should not think about kingship till 2031 |
| Re: Is There Free Will? by helinues(op): 6:43am On Jan 09, 2025 |
Dtruthspeaker:Honestly, you are just beating around the bush. All the references you have been given are just repeating same thing that we dont have full capacity for free will |
