Make all this critics go watch em matches for Afcon before dem open their mouth. His team was solid. Na this same Chelle beat Finidi for friendly match.
very solid team that even outplayed the host and eventual winners CIV but crumbled later on in the game. They even missed a PK in that game

I’ll always support whoever is in charge until it’s clear they’ve ran out of ideas, while I think the appointment is underwhelming I’m willing to wait and see what he’s going to do but I’ll still prefer you sha 👍

Again, I reiterate that the Mali team I watched at the Afcon were very good.

My money was on Burkina Faso vs Mali at the round of 16, I expected the Burkina babes to overrun the Malians easily but the result was different. The Malians totally outplayed the Fasos... Neat, tidy, beautiful football. I lost money but I was very impressed...

Against CIV, they played better than we did CIV. They even lost a PK to consolidate things when leading 1-0. It was after the subtitutions around 80 minutes mark CIV and the crowd turned things around. Same CIV turned things around against us in the final.

I'm throwing my weight behind Mr Eric Chelle. I woke up and saw the news and I gave a thumbs up.

Yesterday we wanted a young coach. We got one.
He is charismatic and will win over y'all skeptics very soon.

All in all, I see us improving so much...
My fear is job interference from NFF bigwigs and politicians

Same people advocating for Angolan coach are the same against chelles appointment, I've come to the realisation even if we appoint guardiola today not everyone will be satisfied, let's just hope the present coach succeeds

Who is talking of praying oga? A coach had just been announced. He had not held his first press conference so we can get insights of his plans, neither has a ball been kicked in a competitive match yet he is been written off. So many women on here.
Don't disrespect women abeg, it's wrong to make such generalizations.

Though not an excuse but siasia was never giving a clean slate SE Job ..he’s always called to rescue situations ,in Wc he failed twice

Meanwhile let’s support Eric chelle as we have no choice .All hands must be on deck for this 2026 World Cup qualification
2011 wasn’t exactly a rescue job, he played most of the qualifying games

Whuch kind mathematics u dey solve? Haha.
minfelix:
i really wish you will search oo,
as for AE, he is a coach i love from his 2006 days till this moment.. i will agree with you that AE is better…but comparing Chelle coaching progress at an extended afcon tournament of 24, then i will tell you Chelle has almost same winning progress ratio…

AE coached at an afcon tournament of 16 teams topped the group and qualified straight to quarterfinals, won the quarterfinal and straight to semifinals and lost.

Now same AE came back for a 24team afcon topped the group qualified to round 16 and got knocked out

Chelle played a 24 nation afcon, topped the group qualified for round 16, won and qualified for quarterfinal and lost…meaning if it were the former 16nation he would have easily breezed into the semifinals 😊🙌🏻

Well one thing that is easy for all of us to do is hope. But the fact is Chele's recird is poor.

We are not patient with our own, pesero was losing friendlies back and front, we wonble and struggle to qualify for the afcon, the only positive in pesero is that he took us to the final apart from that nothing to show for it. Why can't we be patient with our own.

Personally, I think Eric Chelle's appointment is an unambitious one. Unfortunately, the NFF are cash strapped and we have to make do with whatever decision they make.

Eric Chelle is actually a coach I liked from his AFCON performance, played bright free-flowing football that entertained me. I think I made a comment about him when Mali got knocked out.

I also feel Samson Siasia is more deserving, since Amunike is now working on an interesting project at Heartland FC, I would want to see what becomes of it in the next 3-4 years.

I don't think Chelle is more of a tactician than Samson Siasia and Siasia would have easily been able to put a sound team together.

Either way, we have Eric Chelle as our coach and we need to throw our full weight behind him and hope he succeeds.

I pray he does well with the Super Eagles and have us playing breath-taking football.

I always support and give every newly appointed Super Eagles coach a chance until they give me reasons not to (with their results).

Finidi George brought us here. 1 point from a possible 6 was just too poor

AE was a stop-gap measure, and the NFF never hid that.

I'm happy the rigmarole is over and we now have a substantive coach.

Welcome Eric Sekou Chelle.

May you succeed with the Super Eagles of Nigeria

Too sad we missed out on Domenec Torrent. That would have been one ambitious appointment.

The SE coaching job is presently a poisoned chalice ..no thanks to the diabolical results under JP and Finidi.

Any high profile coach accepting the job now risks taking a huge dent on his reputation. We are not in an attractive position.

The NFF have rolled the dice, I hope it works out well. fingers crossed.

I think we’ve been patient enough with AE, he has had several stints as Coach of the Supereagles I don’t think anybody is expecting him to achieve anything serious with the team

another thing, no high profile coach will accept the rumored length of contract, a one year contract reeks lack of belief in the coach’s ability
