I don't know any dealer in apapa personally. I went with a friend who is a parts dealer in Surulere and we didn't go to just one dealer. We move around looking for the best deal.

The place is big and there are large warehouses there where dealers offload their cars from the ship. So you'll have dozens to choose from.

Just go with a trusted mechanic and have your Vin check website on standby so that you can run the Vin to be sure it isn't an accident car.

the best way to go here is to buy from a broke yahoo boy or tell your trusted ones u need a car, they will tell someone they know n get a good one for u

Am selling cos am not even sure of coming to Nigeria this year, so no need to park.

Price is very ok and car is of course in precinct condition, I bought it myself directly in USA.

Unfortunately the car is only available for anyone in the East, especially Aba or Owerri because I can not get to ask someone to take it to Lag or anywhere else since I don't have anyone to trust with it. Except the buyer is ready to travel go check it out.

I step out of Lagos searching for a reliable camry 2004. I saw many dealers on Jiji and nairaland. I visited each of them with my reliable mechanic.
After checking several cars, we discovered that none of the Nigerian used cars is worth buying .
They always have one problem or the other. The most common is bad engines.

Many dealers even promised to give my mechanic 100k behind my back to convince me to buy this melon car. I intentionally opted for Mazda 5 manual because that their parts are cheap, engine size is 2.0 and majority don't use it for long hence the Engine and gear are always in good condition and with the one I bought, my guess was right

It's crazy that with 4.5 million, all you can get is a bad car.
We return home disappointed.

On getting home. I went back to check my own car that I have been driving for 5 years. My engine, gear, and ac are still in perfect condition and I wonder if those putting their car on sale are those with major problem.

Nigeria dealers have ruined the used car market.
Is this a problem with toyota or because the car is a lower year.

I didn't consider other brands. Maybe it would have been a different situation.

At the moment, we are considering buying Tokunbo direct or on installment payment in order to evade this madness in the Nigerian used car Market

A dealer at a stand would sell it more expensive because most times he's buying from the importers. He doesn't import.

And the importers too wouldn't mind exploiting you so they too can make abnormal profit.

That's why I said it's all about your bargaining power. Find out the price from the dealers on the stand before going there. They way they'll know that you're aware of what you want to buy.

Which EOD. What does it guzzle? Money or Fuel? Most people hate honda cars until you own one. I have a EOD, I bought nigerian used 6 months ago for 2.2m. I changed the engine and since then. I've put over 5k miles on the guy and it's doing pretty fine. The only expenses is just my own youthful desire. Like buying screen, buying some fancy light and all those funny stuffs. I'm still 23 lol. Lemme enjoy my youth. 😆 🤣 😂

The owner just bought not, registered it and died 2 weeks after.

The engine is 450k, oil and all 35k. Workmanship 25k
I sold the old engine 100k

So i spent like 400k.

I changed engine because the previous one was shorting and leaking oil. It's loosing power.

What's wrong buying an accident car?

There's really nothing wrong if the accident wasn't serious. If it's just maybe a side or bumber accident, I'd say it's OK to buy it once it's been repaired and sprayed.

But if the car was involved in a head-on-collision with another car, chances are that the engine might be damaged.

Meaning the dealer would buy a nigerian used engine probably from ladipo to insert into the car and sell it to you as tokumbo.

Also if the car was involved in a flood. Like the recent flooding that happened in Spain. Hundreds of those flooded cars would end up in the African car market. The problem with these cars is that if you buy them. You'll fix electrical issues until you get fed up and sell it.

That's why it's always good to run a Vin check on the car you're buying so that you can know it's true state.

Many car dealers are greedy hence very dishonest.

You will see many of them on Nairaland using phrases like ‘barely driven’, ‘owner’s second car’,
‘everything intact’.

Thereby pricing Naija used cars in the range of Tokunbo, some will rub the car with pomade and wear condoms on the seat to advertise their dead cars.
