The National Assembly, through its joint committee on Industry, Trade and Investment, has declared that Nigeria is fooling itself over border closure in view of cross border banditry taking place in states sharing borders with Niger and the Republic of Chad. Lamentation on closed but porous borders came to the fore during 2025 budget defence session the joint committee had with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.https://dailypost.ng/2025/01/11/nigeria-fooling-itself-over-border-closure-nass/

Nigeria borders are very porous, they are den for smugglers who move contrabands in and out with the active connivance of the custom officers. |

Same way it’s been fooling itself with policy summersaults while telling Nigerians to patiently wait for a positve result that will never come. |

The silly act by the useless Buhari government in closing the useful southern borders while making the Northern fringes easy leeways for bandits and BH terrorists to infiltrate was one of the worst diplomatic blunder for Nigeria. |

Fact is, Northern Nigeria owes more allegiance to their brothers & cousins across the border in Niger & Chad, than to Southern Nigeria. So any Northern border closure hardly works. |

Omalicious1:ISWAP fighters are allowed to flow in from the northern borders of Nigeria while soldiers and police are flooded all over the southeast and southsouth regions to combat and extort unarmed people in the southeast and southsouth regions. They are using Nigeria's government institutions, including the armed forces, as well as Islamic terrorists to fight Jihad for Islamic Republic of Nigeria to be governed with Sharia criminal justice system. But they will lose. At one point, Nigeria shall disintegrate violently. Those who adopted unconstitutional Islamic sharia criminal justice system shall have their Arewa Islamic Republic. |

Hon Paul Kalejaiye is a wise man asking a wise question... Are all borders closed or just borders in a section of the country? It's quite evident that only borders in the south have been "closed", while those up north have always been open... Wasn't it this year that Niger State governor complained about foreigners coming to buy foodstuffs in Niger State and taking to their country hence the increase in price of foodstuffs? Which border were they passing? What is good for the goose is good for the gander... Since it's now obvious that borders in the north cannot be closed, let the border in the south be opened also... The CEFA is already raping the naira, so opening the border will even encourage export in a way, because you'll make more profit buying goods in Nigeria and selling in other countries than vice versa Side note: Let our custom go and take refresher courses at Benin Republic on ease of clearing containers at the port... They need it |
