Ha! Not in this case o. This is one of the highest administrative and military royalty office in Yorubaland o. The stake is very high. This is not your usual business hijacked by politicians.

That this opposition made the press alone is already a serious red flag. The Governor is not from Oyo and he's tenure bound. His choice is not law o except he wants to start locking up the Oyomesi in jail and these people are formidable.

I suspect that’s why GSM disagreed. We can’t have such a man sitting on the most respected throne in Yoruba land. If Oyo is gone, then Yoruba is gone.

The decision of the governor is final. Many people making comments against Makinde on this issue know nothing about the intrigues. Dispute is normal in this situation.

Historically, there was a protracted legal dispute when Alaafin Adeyemi III was announced in the 60s.

Don't mind them. From my findings, they colluded with one Prince Lukman Gbadegesin to compromise the process and state government busted them. Gbadegesin was a former banker with First Bank in the 90s who became the main PA to Obasanjo''s minister of state for communications Alhaji Haruna Elewi. Well loved by locals but with some severe character flaws including cases with EFCC.

The moment Oba Adeyemi passed, Gbadegesin being a seasoned politician sprang into action and pocketed the kingmakers thereby compromising the integrity of the entire process. No oracle was involved, it was all dubious money.

He tried to penetrate the state government but met a brickwall in the governor. The rest is history.

This is part of the problem in Nigeria.
There is always animosity, fighting, arguments, enmity and all sorts of maladies whenever we have election, selection and anything that deals with leadership.
It seems that we are incapable of having leadership election or selection without rancor and infighting.
This happens in all organizations in all communities in Nigeria.
Even the Nigerian Law association, the Nigerian Medical association, market association, association of mechanics, association of anything you can think of, there will be infighting regarding who won and who stole the election or selection.
Even the loser will claim the he won just to massage his own ego. There will always be a winer and a loser in any competition, we need to start accepting that fact. Everyone can't win.
It only goes to show that Nigeria is full of unethical, untrustworthy and immoral people.
People are incapable of speaking the truth, everyone is all out for themselves instead of out for facts, truth and honesty.

Whoever suggested that angle knows nothing about Gbadegesin or any Oyo prince. Gbadegesin or Owoade can never be anybody's puppet. Gbadegesin bought them.

True, the late Alaafim undermined and even impoverished the Oyomesis.

Appointed from birth by the gods, from generation to generation. The best the Governor does is ceremonial, handing over of staff of office. The Governor has no say in who is Oba, there are no contenders to the throne.
