1. It is not simply wrong but in fact a crime that should be reported; a case should be instituted to ensure it is not repeated.

2. Ignorance is not sufficient reason for anyone to think it OK to violently assault another person; you would know this from the fact that nobody would sit back and allow him or herself to be assaulted by a third party. Yes, even the ignorant man balks at being assaulted by someone else.

3. You pretend to be more mature yet you have not been able to figure out that one's man's idea of love is not necessarily another man's idea of love. The reason why we have the Law is to help define what should be acceptable behavior/rights for everyone regardless of our individual notions about such things as love. We have this repulsive habit of giving maximum energy to minor issues.

A primary school teacher goes overboard with the discipline of a child, yes she did wrong. Ordinarily, her sack should be enough of a disciplinary measure while the school puts more efforts into the reorientation of its staff. But trust Nigerians to always get emotional and overly animated.

Police has entered. Government ministry has entered. Bloggers have now entered. We'll end up seeing dozens of articles related to this one issue on the front page for the next one week .

The abuser had been doing that for ages, beating little children in terrible ways.
The abuser as well as all teachers had been warned against it, but she still continued. One could argue that she may be a manipulative/aggressive person that may 'destroy' her colleague's (the assaulted boy's mother) source of living if challenged about it.

The assaulted boy's mother is poor, and potentially weakened and fearful, hence, she even reported to her pastor and not even directly to her co-employer with the abuser.

Try to be realistic a little...

I am a product of one of the most prestigious and oldest secondary schools in Nigeria.
I attended Mount Saint Gabriel's secondary school Makurdi.

We were disciplined. But no teacher made us deaf...

I am very sure you can still hear so I am sure no teacher beat your hearing abilities out of you...
But you want the hearing abilities of your child to be beaten out of him....

2. But what you see of Nigeria today is the report card on all of those punishments you claim your generation endured back in the days. What do you think of the results? Is Nigeria of today better as a result of all of those beatings your generation and the ones before that were subjected to?

3. Nigeria is 65 on this day. All the generations before at least 2005 were subjected to the rod... yes, we were all told that it was for our own good. Yet Nigeria turned out the way it is today even that... a nation of miscreants and agberos... even the Nigerian police is now fully a criminal gangster organization headed by people who were born when Nigeria was barely 1 year old.
