People are genuinely sick in head they are trying to trivialise like we haven't heard countless stories of students being killed in schools as a result of abuse.

Nah wetin these animals they try trivialise.
You want a punching bag born your child beat am too death e no hard pass that surely.
It is mind boggling when you think the victims are barely out of diapers. Sickening.

Teachers should learn to control their temper.. there are other ways to correct a child misbehavior than beating. I am a trained and licensed teacher and I speak from experience
Gud !! so what are these ways and how effective as it being on Genz turnout

What is bad is bad, the teacher over acted buh considering how the case is going there is certainly over reaction

As a child some of us grew up in the days of koboko, teacher go beat you for school even for house you fit chop omorogun or wire from your own parent ... But today we thank God

The teacher as being sacked i did think thats enough
It is not an over-reaction you are such an hypocrite I am sure if it was your child you won't be saying the same thing. If your 3yr old child returned home deaf go & pat the teacher on the back you hear if e reach your turn.

You are being obtuse trying to use your own unfortunate case of abuse to justify another abuse.

If nem dem use omorogun nack una head for your house let it end there, you can even use knife too if omorogun is not effective.

Just don't do it to people's kid ok, nobody cares if that's how your parents raised you ok keep it in your barbaric family.

Maybe where you came from. We have seen reports of mentally ill people like you disfiguring children and some cases killing them in the name of punishment.
Firstly, go and learn how to apply punctuation marks correctly. It makes for a good read.
I started by mentioning that the woman is wrong to hit the child, but she might be doing it from a place of love.
If this is not relatable in a society where over 60% are ignorant of how to discipline a child, then good night again!

Nigerians, no be una again?! E no go reach one week, you'll all move on to making noise over something else. That's what you all know.

Your politicians are making your lives miserable and you hail them in response, but opt to vent your existential misery on your fellow citizens over civil issues that can be settled in better ways.

This is not about my use of punctuation but about the level of your reasoning and perhaps your mental health.
You can use better punctuation than Wole Soyinka and still be a deranged maniac.
What is a three year old supposed to know, doing calculus?
Nonsense.

Everything about Nigerians is sensationalism.

We have this repulsive habit of giving maximum energy to minor issues.

A primary school teacher goes overboard with the discipline of a child, yes she did wrong. Ordinarily, her sack should be enough of a disciplinary measure while the school puts more efforts into the reorientation of its staff. But trust Nigerians to always get emotional and overly animated.

Police has entered. Government ministry has entered. Bloggers have now entered. We'll end up seeing dozens of articles related to this one issue on the front page for the next one week huh.
Thank you Sir! Yet they were mute when children died in some big schools.

nothing racist about the truth...

An i:gbo teacher violently slapping a 3 year old Yoruba boy is not racist to you then there is something wrong with you and you would rather ignore tribal attacks than take note of it...

either you have a long a way to go or you were born to parents from two different ethnic nations..

I am having no conflict of opinions. My stance is arrest and remand in prison is an overkill. She was dismissed, and this is appropriate punishment. If not that the case has already gone far, she surely would not have laid her hand on any child in the next school that employs to avoid a repetition of what led to her dismissal in her previous place of employment.

As for the mother, I still insist she failed her child. Why did she have to go to her pastor to report? Why didn't she go to the school authorities directly, or if she doesn't want issues, confront the woman herself? Which right thinking parent will see this and keep silent? It was likely the pastor that insisted on reporting to the school because she was too cowardly to face her own colleague at work. Vulnerability has nothing to do with this
Arrest is not an overkill... Luckily for the woman she is Nigeria where people chant unity and overlook violence just to maintain the illusion of unity...

the woman committed a crime of assault against a 3 year old, crime as a result of hatred against Yoruba people..

the woman should be spending at least 5 - 10 years in prison..

you don't go to another person's ethnic nation and mistreat and be violent against them in their own nation..

1. You are right. Pretty much most Nigerians born before the year 2005 likely experienced discipline of the kind you described. But what has been the outcome of all of that disciple we all had to endure? We were told it would make us all better human beings. Is that the case? Are the vast majority of Nigerians many of whom are 30 upwards model citizens and better human beings as a result of being subject to corporal punishment, particularly in the school system? undecided

Or are you insinuating we are to simply continue this practice that has not benefitted any of the generations since 1960 simply because it was what we were subjected to as youngins? undecided

2. Reports even from most organizations working in Nigeria today reveal that over 70% of Nigerians walk around with one form of mental illness or another. At every level of society, this dysfunction is clearly revealed. The average policeman in Nigeria is no different from an agbero or a maniac. Violence has become the order of the day and is mostly a result of our being exposed to violence as children. So, how did you resolve that mental health treatment is not for Nigerians? undecided

One time a corp member flogged my younger brother who was in jss1 at that time. He said his offense was that he wasn’t writing the dictated lesson fast enough thereby slowing down the lesson or something. He flogged the poor boy 24 strokes on his back. He came back home crying with different crazy cane marks on his back.

Wetin vex me pass na when I hear say the stupid corpse say nothing even soldier fit do am. I sent the picture of the lacerated back to an uncle who’s a lieutenant colonel plus his claim. Next day we visited the school with one army hilux of soldiers. Unfortunately it was a Thursday, the WEREY wasn’t around. The school management begged and begged.
The following term, the boy’s school fees were waived for us.

Very same mentality that's giving birth to the morally deficient children we're seeing in the streets on a daily basis today.

No one is supporting her high-handedness and she's already being punished for it, but let us all not pretend as if practical discipline has become a taboo in our society, which was what she probably intended.

But trust Nigerians on social media such as these clowns to always exaggerate matters especially when they emanate from social media. Forming woke over nonsense. Na only for Internet them sabi get outrage, and always over seemingly minor issues.

Always majoring in the minor! Make una go nail am to cross parade am for streets of Lagos na. Hypocrites!
