Eric Chelle has opened up on his Super Eagles appointment, saying it is an opportunity he could not miss because they are the best team in Africa.

The former Mali coach ended his time with Algerian club MC Oran on a winning note as they beat US Biskra 1-0 at home.

“This was my last game in charge of MC Oran,” Chelle said.

“I worked with enthusiasm and of course the pressure.

“I will miss the fans, so also the critics.

“I have officially joined Nigeria who are without doubt the best team in Africa.

“This is huge opportunity I could not refuse, I grab it with both hands.”

The 47-year-old coach is expected in Abuja Sunday accompanied by his three assistants.

He is to be presented to the public Monday.

Okocha is unarguably the Nigeria's most skillful player of all time.

Obodo and Yahaya probably might be more skill than King Kanu, but let me just rank him higher on this list.

Top 10 Nigeria most skillful players:

1.Jay Jay Okocha
2.Kanu Nwakwor
3.Christien Obodo
4.Musa Yahaya
5.John Utaka
6.Rabiu Ibrahim
7.Chidi Ordia
8.Etim Esim
9.Samson Siasia
10.Osaze Odemwingie

Did not watch Etim, but made the list for his popularity.
Musa Yahaya and Rabiu Ibrahim might not have made it to super eagles, but they were very skillful.

Completing the top 15,
In no particular order are:

Samuel Chukwueze
Victor Boniface
Solomon Okoronkwo
Pius Ikedia
Chinedu Ogbuke

The list excludes players from early '90s down
Best dribbler, that is Okocha but as far as skill is concerned Kanu tops

If we are truly patriotic and we belive our nation is a big nation at least in football then we should demand someone befitting. We can't watch and see other African nations employ proven coaches yet we say we can't afford it. Can we truly not afford proven coaches, put together a long term plan etc? Aren't we Nigeria?

Modified

They tell you they don't have money and we suck it in like a simp. Whereas people are sharing salary.
Someone befitting guarantees nothing. It only gives comfort. Like you said earlier, only results matter.

I really don't like the way everyone was going bizzare on chelle's appointment, but failed to attack the root which is the NFF.

Any attribute that make kanu top? I can talk of okocha dribbling/ one on one take on, holding the ball well, good at free kick, passing the ball well, long range shots..Those are exceptional skills and I will pick him ahead of Kanu

A very good point i wanted to make earlier. Chelle will meet a different profile in SE, will he be able to make our midfield click? Time will tell. Let's hope for the best with him at the helm
That's why I have reservations on the coach but folks here think am just being flippant.

Thats saying things as it trully is. Most of what i see is PR stunts. If you support a specific candidate, say why but dont and sugar salt and all kind of spices.

I'm actually okay with Chelle if we are going to be patient with him.
Your last line is the main issue. Can we be patient? Nigerians are typically an impatient people always wanting quick fixes and quick results.

Thank you baba. I watched a clip of all Kanu's 44 goals for Arsenal. I was stunned. Between Kanu and Okocha, I'd say Okocha is my favorite but as far as skill is concerned, he's more skillful than Okocha.

This man's mind is made up.
He really wants the job. He really wants international recognition.
You can't miss coaching a country of established stars in established leagues of the world. Even $55000 pay cut can't stop it.
I read somewhere that he has been nursing the ambition of coaching Nigeria since he was 12. He would wear the Nigerian jersey and chose playing Nigeria on playstation.
Nigeria here we go!
Welcome Chelle!

Kanu is sublime, more intelligent on the field of play,
but when it comes to footwork, showboating, outrageous and jaw-dropping skills on the pitch, no one comes close to Jay Jay in Nigerian.
I can only rate Ronaldinho ahead of him.

How many signature skills that can be attributed to Kanu?
but Okocha has many, baba creates skills and others copy.

I pray he win those matches so we can have reason to be patient with him. The truth is that patience is tied to results. I was patient with Boniface but not anymore. Not necessarily because he hasn't scored but because he's totally off.

What Yahaya can do with the ball,Mikel and Nwakali won't even attempt it not to talk of doing it.

Be aware the list is not for super eagles alone but for all Nigeria players.

Under normal circumstances, there's absolutely no reason for a team like ours to be so worried about countries like Rwanda and Zimbabwe... This isn't me talking down on those countries, but on paper, we are miles ahead of them...
I totally agree with you that the players determination, more than the coach's tactics will be key to us security qualification. I remember our first game of the qualifiers against Lesotho .. we could have easily been up 3-0 in the first half, but we kept missing chances upon chances and playing like there was nothing at stake...it was after Lesotho scored that things became hard for us... Same with the Zimbabwe game...
Most of the guys in the team are approaching the twilight of their careers and some haven't been to a world cup yet...they better wake up
