Yoruba People From Kogi State. by Doylestown92(op): 7:00pm On Jan 15, 2025

That's an impressive list of distinguished folks of Okun-Yoruba descent. I used to think the British-Nigerian co-founder of the iconic music group, Light House Family 'Tunde Baiyewu is paternally from Abeokuta in Ogun State but he's right here under Kogi State. A younger sister of his Kofo (who I know) is former President Olusegun Obasanjo's biological daughter married to a White guy. Sam Adeyemi is another surprise here... That's mad cool.

Yinka Dare (who is from Kabba but was born in 1972 in Kano. He painfully passed on in 2004 in New Jersey) played in the U.S. Collegiate basketball for George Washington University in the United States back from the early 1990s (long before we ever heard of the Bam Adebayos or the Giannis Adetokunbos of today).

Because of his very tall height at 7 ft tall, he was seen by American NBA analysts as the next big replacement for the iconic 2-time NBA MVP, Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon of the Houston Rockets after being drafted into the NBA, but his sudden death on January 9, 2004 at Englewood, New Jersey truncated that. Yinka Dare hailed from Kabba in the current Kogi State. He has a British-born biological older brother named Michael. I actually personally knew both of them from back in the day. Yinka Dare's commanding memories will remain.

OK, I found two good links. Read more about Yinka Dare right BELOW.

The iconic Chief Sunday Awoniyi who was the FIRST EVER Yoruba man to become the Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) in the 2000s till he passed on. His first son was also the past Deputy Governor of Kogi State when Governor Wada was in charge of Kogi State.

I also know of the seasoned TV and media personality Babajide Kolade Otitoju and a TV political analyst Gbola Oba who are both from Kogi State. The badass Gbola Oba was born in Lagos State though but is actually from Kogi.

Indeed, looking at the names here from a bird's eye view, Yoruba folks of Kogi State are NO pushovers. They are absolutely well-read and accomplished folks from the music maestro Art Alade (Dare Art Alade's biological father), to Yinka Dare of George Washington University and the U.S. NBA, to Tolu Arotile (the FIRST ever female combat helicopter pilot of the Nigerian Air Force in 2019 who actually flew on combat missions against terrorists), and more.

When it's other tribes you Yorubas will be trying to divide them. Imagine the attacks you Yorubads have given the Ikweres for the last few day when they reutuned home as Igbos and reconciled with the upland brothers.

WIKE, Amaechi, Odili, FUBARA and almost all prominent people in Rivers are Rivers Igbo.

Anyways, Congratulations to the Ikweres and other Igbos in Rivers state.
