Man Commits Suicide Over Fraudulent Land Deal In Benue by UDOKABESTLUV(op): 11:04am On Jan 16, 2025

A Man Identified As Mr Tator Ayihe from Ayihe Village in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State has committed suicide over a messy land deal.

Ayihe took his own life by ingesting Sniper, a dangerous pesticide, on Wednesday after selling a plot of land to three different persons.

A Source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told DAILY POST those he sold the land to had assembled for an inquiry at the residence of the traditional ruler of the village for adjudication.

According to the source: “He left the gathering with an excuse to get something from the house; he instead went to three different shops in search of Sniper.

“He succeeded, went home, switched off his phone, and drank the whole bottle of Sniper.

“The chief sent people to his house, where it was discovered he had drunk Sniper. He died on arrival at the hospital.”

The Benue State Police Command spokesperson, Catherine Anene, could not be reached for confirmation of the incident, as calls to her phone were not returned.

I will never endorse scam or fraud of any kind.

It may be justifiable to lie to an ugly lady that she is beautiful and you are madly in love with her just for her to open the goalpost but to lie to someone that you have a property for sale and even go as far as obtaining money from them for the non-existent property is purely criminal and unjustifiable.

I know firsthand that it is not very easy to sell off properties in Nigeria because I've been trying to sell off a few of mine with no much success in my asking price being met, so if this guy easily sold his to three buyers then it makes me believe it was at a price that was too good to be true and their greed caught the bait.

Some things are plain fishy and should make anyone with a common sense wary, for instance, a very cheap land in a choice neighborhood or a light-skinned Nigerian lady who claims to be low maintenance.
If you see either, please run for your money.

With that said, his next-of-kin should refund those defrauded, it is not only when someone dies leaving wealth that next-of-kin will show face.

Taking his own life won’t erase the wrongs he’s done. While it’s tragic, this man still has to face the consequences of his actions, not just in this life but in the afterlife. The people he wronged, who trusted him with their hard-earned money, won’t find justice in his suicide. If anything, his choice to escape responsibility just adds to the harm. Ultimately, he will have to answer for the deceit and pain he caused, and that won’t be undone by ending his own life.
