For secondary you don't need to wait till next week though. The rate may be a little lower than primary. I actually did secondary with Stanbic bank this week.

Primary market has 90,180 AND 364days tenure. The secondary market doesn't exceed a year also but you can invest for shorter tenure(28, 40,. 60,345 day etc). If you cant wait for 90days , kindly request rates from your bank and go for the secondary market.

Good Govt Approved Layout Lands in Developing Areas Remain the King of Investments .
It bests Loss / inflation Making Naira investment in Treasury bills and Bonds
400 Sqm bought in Guzape Abuja for 20m in 2014 Sold for 400m
Land Bought for 800k in 2004 Sold for 130m Million.
Good Land repriced itself well absorbed all the devaluation of Naira or USD and Good Mark-up.
TB is a wasted and loss business
Invested 100m at 16 percent in 2023 USD was 720 to Naira ( 138000 USD)
After Tinibu floating
Everything land into 118,000/1600
74000 USD
Loss = 64000 USD Just Like that Govt is Yahoo
In the Same period was offered aLand at 3 Plots @ 32m naira each
They where sold recently For 240m
= 140 USD
Real Life experience Now poorer Camary 2017 I was planning to Buy @ 8m is now 16m
Young Investor I have taken the Bullets for you to learn don't do same Mistakes
This trend has been repeating itself for 20 years now .
Was Shouting is was

Plans was to grow Money to 200,000 USD then Exit
Assumption made was Floating Naira will Converge Naira @ 700 as Predicted by Economic Magazine ,world bank and Co by reinvesting 100m in TB @ 16 for 24 Months will amounts to about 140m /700 = 200 USD
Instead we where Scammed
Now FGN is Using 1500 to USD
I need 2 years to get back to 100k USD = 160m naira
But it a Lie the Naira is Sliding to 1660 by time am exiting might have on 70 k USD
This Grand waste of time and money.

Interesting post. Investment choice can be quite personal and one must consider his/her risk appetite. For example, some prefer Treasury bills for its liquidity, minimal risk and hands free benefit.

Still, you raise some good points and it'll be interesting to do some real financial calculations to compare it with other investments and share.

Personally, I have found this thread of immense use and I thank my brothers and sisters who give their time to share their knowledge, experience and expertise - FOR FREE.

This is quite insightful and I'm genuinely sorry for your loss. However , cutting off the head is never a remedy for headache. Every investors at one time or the other have suffered some degree of losses, we all learn from the pain and move on

There are stocks that delivered more than 500% on NSE last year , yet I lost so much in NSE last year. Some people bought properties and lose to Nigeria government demolitions and natural disasters like the Los Angeles fire without insurance coverage, while other made fortunes. If there is 100% certainty on anything, everyone would be rich

TBills real rate of return might not be positive considering the inflation rate at the moment but we can't take away the fact that, the rate is not that bad, it's almost risk free and if compounded, you will make 100% return in 3 years. I don't think Naira will see a craze devaluation in the next few years. I strongly believe 2025 will be a year of stability, especially in FX.

All The Best

Go to the bank very early. Banks like stanbic will still accept bid by 10am otherwise you wait for another two weeks for primary auction.

The process has not changed. The primary auction is just one day which is once in every two weeks. It's usually a wednesday, where Tbills are issued, but you can bid for Tbills any working day of the week (on or before the Tuesday preceding the primary auction day.). Hence you can still bid for the primary auction of this week by tomorrow morning.

However, secondary market activities (bidding and issue) of Tbills is every working day of the week.
