Hopefully with d attacking football chelle wish to introduce back to eagles play, some “dead” strikers might rejuvenate deir goal scoring skills again .j am looking at boniface thriving well under chelle(hopefully)
why still looking at Boniface and not Iheanacho cos Boniface has never fired for SE unlike Iheanacho so what does the coach want to rejuvenate.

Sadiq Umar particularly baffles me to be honest... He scored a wonderful goal on his debut for Valencia. He took the ball, cuts in on his right(deleting 2 defenders) and calmly whip it into the net. Great beautiful Individual goal...

Problem is, earlier in the match, he had spurned a good free header about 6yards to the goal keeper, UNMARKED. He bundled wide. He is fond of scoring the harder goals and missing easier chances... He is Darwin Nunes brother...

Great goal anyway for Sadiq on his debut. If you see the way his teammates jubilated cheesy They were like "Thank God ooo 🙏🏾🙏🏾, he score this one.
U can say the same thing about Victor Osimhen. There have been plenty games where he scores the harder chance.

True but at least he scores the easy ones better than most. To score double digit goals for 6 seasons straight is no joke.

Yeah sure even a Georgian will struggle to get a coaching job in England. It is what you do with the opportunity that really matters

And then this particular comment about Sadiq Umar is on ethnogeographic argument? 🙄🙄

If it doesn't interest you, jump and pass. Besides, I've left the discussion on that topic. It's customary on this thread for us to make detours to such matters and I made just four post on the matter and deliberately declined to respond to the lengthy comment by M7even just so the matter ends.
Didn't want to quote any of those long posts.

I'm mentioning this cause you keep on doing it. Not the first time, not the second, not even the third. Whenever someone mentions something about a black player in Europe, or something in that domain, whilst not referring to the global politics or immigration aspect of things, you quickly pick it up and turn in it into a debate on whether blacks can immigrate to Europe and whatnot.

If those topics interest you that much, there are folks on the politics section that can engage you on that. Not to be igniting these debates here. Alright?

Since he doesn't want to do it for reasons best known to him
Here is Dessers stats
Because he always does it when he scores

31 appearance 12 goals and 4 assists 😕
Imagine returning such numbers in the Scottish league, I'm sure Brown Ideye would do better

Who says both Iheanacho and Boniface cannot be revived?
I guess they were particular about Boniface given that he has got so much potential yet struggling to find his mojo in the national team.

That doesn't change the fact that he called out Sadiq for something our best striker is guilty of.

It remains to be seen what tactical formation Eric Chelle will deploy. Many are predicting 4-4-2 which I think will favour a player like Victor Boniface who thrives better in a partnership.

Fingers crossed on Lookman and Iwobi who usually are among the first names on the team sheet. Lookman is more an inside forward than a winger. Iwobi on the other hand is a left/right AM.

But it pays to have a lot of options in terms of personnel and tactics.
At the end of the day, it is not about the players and not about the formation as Finidi rightly said. It is about teamwork, team spirit, determination and the right culture.

I still think 3-5-2 or 3-4-1-2 is our best formation given that it gives protection to our CCB Ekong, it actually fits Bassey who is best at LCB, Ola Aina and Bruno do best as flying wing backs, Iwobi is relieved of defensive responsibilities and can create at the top of the midfield three, and Lookman can dribble into the penalty box while Osimhen holds up the ball up front

Our coach needs to work on our ability to pkay with 2 central defenders. Playing with 3 Centre backs limits our options in midfield and attack. Are our defenders so poor that they can't okay with 2 centre backs. I don't understand.

Maybe igbo ogbu should be tried in defence. As per calvin bassey if he does not play well in a 2 man centre back, then he is limited. The issue is a lot of people here will say bassey is better than ogbu because he is in a better league but formation and tactics trump league. Players like omeruo, igbo ohbu may be better than bassey in a 2 man centre back but anyone who reasons like this will be deemed foolish.

I agree with you.
People think that packing 5 defenders against Rwanda, Zimbabwe and Benin is the way to go. How could a country boasting some of the most talented attackers in the world be such mediocre?

We need to play 4-4-2 because that is our strength. This is basic logic!

Iwobi should always be deployed as the base of our attack where he can feed the attackers. He should be relieved of defensive duties. This does not mean he won't defend. All players are to defend but middle defense should not be Iwobi's primary responsibility.

Atalanta should forget the league if they can’t beat Napoli at home
They’ve probably forgotten how to win games since the super cup event.
February looks like a good month for Atalanta if they can wrap January up on a good note

Galatasaray can win the Turkish league by end of March or early April so they can totally focus on tough Europa League fixtures.

This season

1 goal
3 assists
3 big chances created
2 Team of the Week appearances
Solid defender for Everton...

Deserves a spot, maybe.

Very soon Boniface will join that list. Waste men
What about Iheanacho

You answered your question, our defenders have glaring limitations that could be exposed in a 2 man defence, the last defender that we had that could comfortably hold his own in a 2-man defence was Joseph Yobo
