The headline is sensational and every one is biting ....no critical thinking from the general mass of people. This is the story from the girls parent and they would want to protect the girl and the family reputation by all means

What if the statement of the accused has some truth, that he was dating the girl. His description of events are not outlandish...its just an unfortunate event and the guy is in serious trouble.

From the narrative in the story, it seems not to be rape. But Tribune also did a bad job by narrating "information gathered" from unknown sources and then the guy's narrative without informing us if the girl disputes or confirms the guy's narrative

That said, the age of consent in Abuja is 11 years due to the prevalence of sharia law in that region so if the sex was not forced, the guy will be free

i think they’re just trying to make headlines catchy. Medias have suffered a lot on false reports not relating to a particular news by exaggerating it. Rape! That’s too much.

In a rational sense, as a sane human that obviously he looks to be can not just go to a friend’s house for assistance and ruin his reputation at his neighborhood just like that. If it were his own house and he ran is a different case. And moreso, if it was rape, the girl would have shouted even before he attempted not to talk of having his way into her. As well not drugged! Getting disvirgined at the age of 17 is not new. No one is saying it’s good.. Unfortunately for the guy, her condition became too noticeable by everyone.
