Think About It. How Did The Authors Know What Jesus Prayed? by kppo(op): 11:47am On Jan 22, 2025
The bible says that in the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus left His disciples at a distance while He (Jesus) went further ahead to pray ALONE.

So my question is, if Jesus was ALONE when He prayed, how did the authors of the gospels know what Jesus said? Nobody heard Him (Jesus) while He prayed because they (the disciples) were some distance away and besides the bible says the disciples were asleep.

This is where you take note of the Word Jesus left them Saying "bring to mind All" that they witnessed.

Look at what Jesus Christ of Israel did when asked by His followers to teach them to pray in Matthew 6. He went into detail about what they were to say when they did. The author may have gotten the answer to the question by simply asking Jesus Christ of Israel himself what He had prayed about or for, a prayer likely taken from Isaiah 51 vs 22. undecided

The author couldn't have known by "simply asking Jesus Christ of Israel himself what He had prayed about or for" because the bible narrates what followed the solo prayer: Judas came and betrayed Jesus and He (Jesus) was arrested and taken away. The disciples were then scattered. Jesus was then tried and crucified. So there was no time in which the disciples could have inquired about what He (Jesus) had prayed about.

According to Gospel records, however, Jesus Christ of Israel had come down at some point during the same night to ask His followers why they would not pray with Him. This was before Judas showed up with the soldiers later on. If we are to assume they never got a chance to speak to him after the arrival of the Roman soldiers, there was at least one window that night during which Jesus Christ of Israel would have been able to relay the information directly to them. undecided

They made up the stories, after all the stories about Jesus in the Bible were written decades after his death.

Yeah, I do believe the same Angel (not spirit) came to Jesus son of Mary too. But not to Paul, Matthew, Mark, Luke and the rest alleged writers of the new testament.

Angels are Spirits that we can't see with ordinary eyes!

That's hypocrisy and the reason why i left Islam!

You weren't there so whatever makes you believe an angel (spirit) spoke to an Arabian man telling him ancient stories about a far away nation which never happened in his time then you have no excuse doubting the same thing happened when it's said to have happened elsewhere.

That's your English definition of things! I don't go by that!

Call them Angels, period!

Angels appeared to Prophets and pious people as man! Angel appeared to Mary!

Nowhere did any angel appear to Matthew and co.

That's the reasoning of Islam.

An angel is a Spirit God may choose to communicate with His servant through an angel or directly using His spirit like mobile phones we have today.

The hypocrisy is agreeing that an unseen person could speak to a person but disagreeing that the same thing could occur in another setting!

You are the hypocrite here that can't prove each of Matthew met an Angel to give them what they wrote. After all JW agreed there are many mistakes in the Bible before they wrote their own version!

Again to you is your spirit naming!

Show us where Angels visited Paul, Matthew, and others like Mary?

Now let me show you where hypocrisy is hiding here.

Whether angel or spirit or God the story belongs to the Israelites not Arabians so it's totally wrong for Arabians who were pagans now claiming worshipers of the God of Israel to discredit the owners of the stories.

Jesus spoke to his disciples (not Muhammad) saying:

“I still have many things to say to you, but you are not able to bear them now. However, when that one comes, the spirit of the truth, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak of his own initiative, but what he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things to come." John 16:12-13

So Muhammad who wasn't there with Jesus neither was he a contemporary can't claim those who walked with Jesus lied.

For your information according to God's word Muhammad is the liar here because only him saw and spoke with the so called "angel" nobody witnessed it!

On the testimony of two witnesses or of three witnesses the one who is to die should be put to death. He must not be put to death on the testimony of one witness. Deuteronomy 17:6

You supposed to doubt the only person who saw your Allah, your Jubril and kept making rules all to favour his sexual appetite.
Only Muhammad could marry more than four wives while it's haram for others, only him heard your Allah telling him to snatch the wife of a younger Muslim, he was the first to marry a child aged 9 years.
All these coming from the same Allah that never spoke to anyone else except Muhammad! undecided

Hopefully you won't cut away my comment and respond to the one you wish from it.
Adam didn't worship the God of Israel! Same as Moses and Abraham. They never knew any tribe like Israel! You God is limited to Israel. Almost everything about your Bible is referenced to Israel. Even Jesus told the Canaanite woman he was not sent except to the lost sheep of Israel.

So where is the Spirit of truth? Don't tell me the Spirit of Truth came as your JW founder!

So Muhammad who wasn't there with Jesus neither was he a contemporary can't claim those who walked with Jesus lied.
Of course Jesus didn't lie. Jesus didn't write anything in the Bible. People wrote things on behalf of Jesus without his authorization. So no one said Jesus lied. What was written about him is plain falsehood. That's why almost 90% of Jesus's life is unfounded in the Bible. Jesus was absent from 1-11years. Also from 13-30yrs!

For your information according to God's word Muhammad is the liar here because only him saw and spoke with the so called "angel" nobody witnessed it!
Where's the God's word? Are you saying what Luke and Mark wrote are God's word? And you are the liar because a group of the companions of the Prophet did saw Angel Gabriel come to meet the Prophet as a man and he taught them Islam.

On the testimony of two witnesses or of three witnesses the one who is to die should be put to death. He must not be put to death on the testimony of one witness. Deuteronomy 17:6
On whose testimony are each of the new testament books based? Who testified that Mark was writing from God? Who testified that Luke was writing from God? What about Paul, the antichrist who became the champion after Jesus left? On whose testimony is he on? Everyone was just writing and some group of people selected what they deem fit to promote....

I like this your last Paragraph the most. It actually shows you JW are just as cynical and hypocritical as any other Christian denomination! Muhammad is not the only one to marry such wives! God gave Adam only Even in your Bible. Abraham married two, David like 8, Solomon 300 + 700 concubines, Lamech 2, Moses 2.... Jacob even married two sisters Rachel and Leah and their slaves Bihar and Zilpar!

So you have no mouth to say anything in this regard since Israel was free to marry multiple wives and slaves and your God of Israel permitted it. Why did Jehovah give David his master's wives and even wanted to give him more?

And as regards marriage age, tell us the defined marriage age in the Bible?

How old were the virgins spared for Jehovah and the warriors in Numbers 31?
Jehovah got 32 virgins from that war! How old was each?

lol comparing yourself to Jesus then giving a fake apology of if you appear, you either admit your wrong or you are not. That arrogance won't leave overnight would it.

Humility is simple, not everyone who has a divine visitation would tell others about it, and you said if the visitation is about salvation. Peter wrote yet he didn't mention what Luke wrote that an angel came to them in prison and told them to go and teach the people the words of this new life. Now does that mean what Luke wrote was wrong or that Peter didn't see the need to or maybe he had many encounters or didn't think it was important enough to speak about or maybe he felt if he mentions them people would focus on his rather than Jesus. They would take him has the last prophet of God and maybe claim he is the Holy spirit the foundation of the church.

Look let me tell you something the evidence that someone has been visited by God is humility not pride. Those who have been visited will tell you the same thing except if what visited them was a demon

Yes, i can compare myself to Jesus. He was in the womb like me! Ate like me! Drank breast milk like me. Passed through the birth canal like me. Jesus cried like any other human! He was protected like i was as a baby! But he was a messenger of God who did receive revelations from God! And i don't see where i am wrong here!

I think i would end with the verse from Luke 1:1-4 where he said : Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.

This shows:
1. Many people wrote about the things that happened - like history written by an historian!
2. They had sources who were the eyewitnesses and servants of the word - who are they?
3. Luke even had to investigate again from the beginning - Why investigate if your sources are legit?
4. And Luke was writing to one Theophilus. He wasn't writing a scripture to be included in the Bible!
5. There was no Holy spirit/Angelic visitation involved in writing the scriptures!

if you saw where you are wrong you wouldn't be blind now would you, you would not need another to show and teach you, because then you would have the spirit of God in you tell you but you don't. So would repeating it change anything
